M62 w/3.1 pulley question
Saturday, August 22, 2009 7:43 PM
I have been wondering if something is not quite right with my car making 9-10psi with the 3.1" pulley. Shouldn't it be up around 12-13? I do have a high idle issue that only appeared after the GM reflash. It idled fine before the reflash and the S/C installed.

The only big difference between my car and others running the 3.1" on the M62 is that i still have the stock exhaust. But that doesnt make since to me because the exhaust is restrictive.

Any thoughts?

i saw 12psi with a 3" with pacesetter header and 2.25" exhaust.. now i see 14psi with a 2.9" so 10 sounds right for a 3.1 to me..

You ported the blower right? That's a 1-1.5 psi drop in pressure.

I say it's a little low, with the stock exhaust I believe it should be around the 12-13 psi.

My 3.0 pulley with the stock header and 2.25 exhaust made 14 psi.

The gauges resets to the 0 "box" when the car is off and i dont have any vacuum leaks.

The only change in psi i noticed with air temp is that i hit 11 psi on the way into work.

As far as i know the blower isnt ported. I could have over looked it during the install though.

Anyway the S/C will temporarily be coming off the car this winter, so i'll have a good chance to check the components out.

What about a latmina core that isnt sealed right?

If it was leaking from the cores, then it probably would stumble during idle (water being ingested into the engine) and the coolant level would be low along with the system being pressurized when under boost. So most likely not.

2.2 ecotec. gm sc, pacesetter 4-1, 2.25 piping, hi-flo cat, big res, dual tips.

I had a strong 10psi when installed during christmas, this was with stock airbox.

Now I have a strong 9psi during summer, this is with an AEM CAI.

That's just if I get on the gas, usually during spirited dirving i'm only floating around 6-7psi.
