I was looking on eBay and found this kit. I've read the seller's reviews and they were all very good. The kit looks very nice for the price and the colors are what I wanted. I was originally going to get Hahn's kit but 2000 is a bit much more than I wanted to spend and the intercooler wasn't included. Let me know what you think about this kit?

Lol, if you like cheap, chinese crap that is not even made for your engine.
The cardboard box background is a dead give away that this kit is crap, let alone the fact it comes with some Vatozone hose covers.
Spend the money, and get Hahn. It is worth it.

It wont fit. The exhaust gasket in the pic is for a OHV not a Ecotec. Not to mention the turbo is some china knock off(hence why it doesnt list a manufacture for it).
This turbo kit will be good if you like wasting money on @!#$ that doesnt fit and will destroy your engine. The HRC turbo kit is more expensive for a reason, it uses quality parts and has alot of R&D into it.

well......
can i get an unbiased opinion from a non-hahn fanboy
"What we do in life, echoes in eternity"
it's not about hahn fanboys, they're telling you it's crap, tinkles even pointed out that one of the parts from this "kit" does'nt fit an ecotec. a turbo kit is kinda one of those things you should'nt cheap out on for a reason man. you wanna cheap out buy an ebay strut bar.
i forone say buy it, mainly just because i like to see @!#$ blow up.....knock off parts are awesome.....
u can fined used saab kits for a bit more than that..
gotta pony up to play my friend...
p/s don't get cocky with respected members when you ask for there opinions and don't like em, wont end we'll for ya...
well i didnt mean to come off sounding cocky i just wanted an opinion. i thought most of you were fanboys but i know how cheap ebay stuff is. i will just save up for the hahn because it looks so nice and he gave me a great deal. now all i need is the money. sorry if i offended anyeone.
"What we do in life, echoes in eternity"
No fanboy from this end, I'm not even boosted. I just feel you should support the serious guys that are on here and actually working with others to develop these kits correctly.
And it's just not a good idea to cheap out on major components. As Blu said, Cheap stuff like ebay strut tower bars are good to go.

Touche...Always 1 up on me haha.
me and tinkles are both running eaton s/c's so i wouldn't call us fan boys lol
Not really sure what you want out of your car, but an s/c kit maybe more within your budget, you can pick up a pretty loaded kit used kit for in the 1200$ range. Or like i suggested you can also look into the saab turbo set up, you can pick up one of them used, complete kit for less than 2g's if you do your shopping on hear right...just some food for thought.
justin,i have an ebay turbo brand new i'll sell you, most of those are jdm parts.they a replicas some are ok and most aren't.look at it this way how much do you value your motor, that kit will have alot of yang parts not all but most.the t-bolt clamps just by themselves are really crappy so if they can't give you a real 3.00 clamp what else did they skimp on.wait and do it right i'm going to get hahns also.
i opened the page and literally lol'd loud...

whats a JDM part? are those them over night parts from japan?
hey gary
a supercharger would probably easier to install, but i want the blow off sound. turbos look better also. i will just save up 2000 and get the hahns because it looks nice and looks quality. if i can get a supercharger for 1000? i might do that. where can i look at them.
"What we do in life, echoes in eternity"
i 1000% agree with the blow off part, my Buddie runs a saab turbo, and my god, i wish mine made that sound lol......disagree on the looking better part tho, i fined most turbos you can't even see were as the supers right there glaring at ya.(although there's is many exceptions to that, ex. John Brennan(sorry bud if i spelt it wrong), his loooks tits, but hes has $$$ into it if u know what i mean.
keep combing over the classifieds on hear, and the regional areas, used stuff pops up all the time, turbo and s/c, aswell as cobaltss.net has used s/cs in the classifieds all the time.

About 2 months ago, I was looking at Ebay turbo's as well, and then managed to find j-body org.
I was in no way an "HRC" fanboy, and didn't even know who Hahn Racecraft was. But after reading almost every turbo-related post on the forums, and then checking out sites like clubcavi, ecotecpower, and a few others....you start to understand why people like HRC. Youtube, google, streetfire......it's all there to soak up like a sponge.
That kit you posted, I actually looked at that same kit 2 months ago when I was first browsing. It looks like it's all there, and whatnot, but I guarantee that the intercooler piping alone will be a huge pain. It sure doesn't look like all those aluminum pieces will go from Turbo ---> IC and then IC -----> Throttle Body
Not to mention you will most likely need injectors, and the means to wire them, oh, and an oil filter, fuel filter, fuel pump (inline, or replacement with relays and wiring and fuses), as well as extra fittings, and hi-temp hose.....etc, etc, etc.
So a 9-12 hour install, turns into a 2 week job. All of a sudden you are going from saying "it's so easy, a caveman could do it" to feeling like you have to reinvent the wheel.
To answer your question, YES you can build your own kit. But unless it is a legitimate Garret or Hahn kit on e-bay, I would stay away. Instead, if you want to build your own, then research the forums like I did, and maybe go the SAAB or custom route.
Me? I opted for the tried and true. HRC FTW!

thanks for the folllow up Erik...im still decided whether i want a sc or turbo setup. if i can get a decent supercharger for about a grand id go that way, but if its gonna end up costin as much as the turbo from hahns then ill just get that. ive looked classifieds and cant find complete sets, only turbos and parts. i will just save up and buy hahns. i have 300 in the bank, 300 more next week, 300 the next 2 weeks, and hopefull a grand in like a month or two.

It all depends on what you want. A fun DD under 300whp, go with the S/C or if you want a fun play car with over 300whp go turboed.

I cant take credit on that. I heard it somewhere, but i forget where.

id rather have a sneezing turbo than a whining sc.
id rather not have a cap on power, than be limited by a pulley.
id rather have cool iat's than dealing with heatsoak.
my theory on turbo vs sc and why i went turbo is, im not limited by pulley size and port and polish, if i want more power, bigger turbo, pull mine off, bolt a bigger one on, end of story. more complex but more fun.
well do turbos decrease gas mileage and how much? my car probably gets near 25mpg city and near 30 highway. how much would it decrease/increase? if i lose a lot of gas mileage, i will just stay stock probably.
