hey guy i am close to wraping up my turbo project.. i started my car up the other day just to see what would happen it ran fine. but as of now there is no tune or any mods done to fuel.. what would be the best injectors for running 5 or 6 psi without breaking the bank. oh and is there any piggy back that will be fine for a low boost setting. its a 01 2.2 5 speed.. i want to wait and see how the car runs before going out and spending money on a tune?? any help is great thanks mike
According to my calc sheet you need about 32 lb/hr injectors for 5-6 psi . i highly recommend a proper fuel set-up at least an FMU with wide band sensor to be sure you don't get lean under boost. A proper tune is best to be sure you don't blow your engine. Street tuning is usually not recommended. You can't pull timing or anything if you start getting and detonation or engine knock. The stock ECU will probably only pull a couple degrees timing - I don't know it's capability under the stock tune. Good Luck!
depending on the size there are people that have ran there car for a long time with a simple fuel setup and a stock timing map. if you get your self a decent FMU that does idle control and rising per lb of boost. and a basic piggy back for the injectors. You can safley run your car assuming you use a wideband.
However were talking about 5psi here, which is a low amount of boost that the engine doesnt mind. But no man who has ever straped a turbo to a cavalier has ever just left it where it was your eventually going to turn it up. so please take that into acount because a piggyback and an fmu will only get you so far.

i ran fine at 5 psi for about a year with no tune... stupid but true. it will only last so long without a decent tune tho... aems fic or hanhs portfuler would accommodate you well besides the fact there both pricey... good luck

hey thanks for the replies.. i got stock cobalt ss injectors from one of my buddys whats a good piggy back for a 01 2.2
I don't really hear good things about piggy back solutions. I think a Hp tuners tune and an FMU works pretty well from what I hear.
as far as a fueling solution goes, HPT and an FMU is basiclly the same thing as a piggy back and an fmu. they both modify injector pulse width based on the same inputs hence why you need an fmu for both. In fact you can tune a car with just a piggy back or a HPT. However your going to have to stray far from a "desirable" air fuel. This is why the fmu is used with both because it allows for a finer tune of the fuel based off of boost level.
