Granted im turbo but i have heard a few sc apps and im still using and a big fan of a long resonator, and a dynomax superturbo muffler.

mine is a 28" Thrush glasspack, and then the dynomax super turbo muffler. sounds stock at idle, then makes some noise when getting on it.

flowmasters are some of the worst flowing mufflers out there.

The flow-masters clearly use a chambered design to divert the flow and capture the exhaust energy/pulsations to resonate the chamber and amplify the sound and cancel noise, but if you read about the technology it also explains how they can create a neg pressure to help exhaust scavenging and block atmospheric pressure from entering the muffler. So the muffler probably does it's job pretty well - muffles the sound and it not too much of a restriction.

A Dynomax, Borla or any straight-through design in any muffler will probably flow a bit better, and will certainly be a few -db louder throughout the operating range.

If you want full flow - go with a cut-out. But then choose your muffler by the tone you want.

If you have money and time - you could dyno the car with different mufflers to try and gain 5-10 hp here and there - my 2 cents.

Think about what you just said after you put it into the context of a boosted motor...

flowmasters are just plain restrictive. dont get me wrong, i love the sound of them but there have been proven dyno results showing they suck for flow.

Sorry - muffles or attenuates the raspy noise - and scavenges best at part throttle, cruise on N/A application. The hushpower straight through design(still flowmaster brand) could work better for a boosted motor - but again that's why I mentioned cut-outs if you're worried about using a muffler. If you're that concerned, don't make any bends over 30 degrees.
