pulley, injectors, tune

So right now im getting the idea that stock 32# injectors will work on a 3.1 pulley and the 3.0 pulley....with a hp tune. is this right or am i reading wrong. I will be having a H/E from zzp but i need to know what pulley to get so i can get the ball rolling more. thanks for the help guys

i already have the stage two belt so ill be putting that on as well

Im running a 3.1 pulley, ZZP S3 H/E, LSJ injectors(same as the stock kit injectors, all on the GM crapflash without a problem.

But honestly if you are going to HPTune the car and run the ZZP S3 H/E, i would jump up to 42# injectors and down to a 2.9"-2.8" pulley.

You would drop pulley sizes with out replacing the rods?

Wait, aren't stock injectors (stock ss/sc - GM kit) 36 lb/hr?

FWIW, on a custom S/C tune i did, the stock ss/sc injectors were maxed out @ 7k rpm with a 3.1" pulley. 91% IDC with an 11.7:1 AFR.

If you're going with a custom HPT tune, I'd go with 42 lb/hr regardless on a 3.1/3.0". If you consider 2.9/2.8" pulley and custom tune, I'd strongly consider 60 lb/hr. Water/meth is also your friend and when tuned properly will take a slight load off your injectors (passive fuel supplement)

Dropping pulley sizes is a complementary mod, not major one. You wont hit the HP threshold of the rods just buy dropping pulleys.

I have 60lbs injectors 255 walbro with a 3.0 pulley so I have the fuel to support a smaller pulley but I haven't gone to a smaller pulley since I haven't built the motor yet...anyone running smaller pulley with stock bottom end?

Well i'll be damned, i spend 10 minutes looking threw profiles and did not find a single one running a pulley smaller than a 3.0". I could have sworn that i saw a few members with a 2.9" pulley.

im running 2.9" pulley with 42's and there like 95ish% maxed out with a OTTP h/e all on stock engine. also HP tuned. if your getting HPT i also suggest 60's. leaves alot more room for play down to road if you decide to do anything else.

wow thanks to every one for their input. i do appreciate the help.

the run down:
HPtune
ZZp H/E
bump up injectors to 42# at least....maybe 60#
run a 3.0 pulley

all on stock internals with 2.5 exhaust and headers

water meth down the road

what numbers are we looking at with your setups......220hp maybe 240?

I dynoed at 219whp with the mods in my profile, except that i was running a Cobra H/E instead of the ZZP S3.

With enough injector and a custom tune, i would hope you'd be in the 240-250whp range with the 3.0". I don't know at what point pre-ignition on pump gas becomes an issue, but it's definitely not on a 3.1" pulley and 93 octane from what i've seen. 3.0" should still be happy

I know if i was HPTuned instread of the GM crapflash i'd be ~230whp or a tad more. I really hate the GM tune.

Before i switched to ls1 tb s3 heat exhchanger 60# injectoers and 2.5" exhaust I was making 260 whp on a dyno jet

Was sitting around 214 with my mods in my profile. Wicked rich, not sure what happened between the tune date and dyno.

42's, 3.0, and S3.

M62, 42's, ZZP 3", ZZP S3 H/E
214whp 190wtq

The setup that will be on my car was dynoed at 240+ with 36 lb injectors, the cobra h/e, water/meth injection, 3.0 pulley, and a boost referanced AFPR. With the proper mechanical tuning, the GM "crap" flash as everyone is calling it can be put to good use well past 230HP, without running super rich. CaliforniaDomestics is who the kit originally belonged to. He has a very very very good knowledge of the ecotec motor, and the GM flash.

still waiting to get the chance to put mine on the rollers.

if you have any aspirations for more power, go for the 60's. i plan on stepping up this winter along with some more cooling mods (s3, dual pass, yada yada) and then talking oldskool into coming back up and retuning my sedan.

Better start saving now, because something tells me that there might be a new cooling mod available this winter.....

Well my car was dyno'd with 42lb/hr ,3.0 2.5 header back exhaust, and h/e ls1 tb and numbers are in the sig for a fake 2.5 bar on hpt.

I'm very anxious to see what yours puts down. You need injectors now though, unless you can stay below the stock rev limit lol

i don't plan on running the car too hard this year but injectors are at the top of the list.

kyle... do tell!!

It's still in the design phase, so im not going to say anything publicly. Well i will say that im trying to enlist RD Fabs again to built it and last time that happened, well you guys saw....

What a tease! I wonder if it could be a intake manifold, heat exchanger, or some kind of injection system. I think it would be awsome if someone was to make a air to air manifold like the 2.4 vulcan manifold for the Eco and if it would be more efficent also maybe flow better than the stock LSJ manifold too.. I dynod 218 whp on the stock pulley. was unsure about using a smaller pulley but will be for sure once i get my truck running good in case it blows up =). im thinking 3.0, injectors and HP Tune, and maybe meth injection.

Just to add......I had a 3.2" pulley on the Stig ported M62 with the Racetronix pump and harness, had the FP cranked up with an Areomotive AFPR, 5gph methanol nozzle with the pump maxed. Big HE, dual pass, 3" exhaust, etc. The kit injectors were not even close to keeping up due to the port job. Even after I leaned the WOT AFR out to 11.8:1 with HPT they didn't suffice.

^ forgot to add the injectors were cleaned and balanced by Stig too.

Wow don't know how i missed this thread! Yea since i have a beater car now, My plans are to go crazy with the m62..

Single pass
P&P head and charger
2.9 pulley
60 lb'ers

I have a extra engine, but i may just go ahead and build it before i blow up the one i have...AGAIN..

Anybody know when the m62 stops making power, i wanna to increase the rev but if its not making power after 6000k its no point.

I need to hit the Dyno before then tho.
