Finally Got My 2003 Sunfire Tuned On 3 August @ National Speed In Wilmington NC Put Down 235hp and 250 ft lbs On A DynoJet Dyno Car Sees 10.1 AFRs While In Boost But I Plan To Have Someone With A Lil More Experience With The Jbody PCM Do Some Street Tuning To Kinda Clean Up The Tune. Current Setup Is A Garrett T3T4 57 Trim With Ford 42lb Injectors Log Manifold Ext Wastegate FMIC And Walbro 255 And A Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller Set At 12psi. I Feel I Could Prolly Get Around 250hp 260ft lbs With A Cleaned Up Tune. Internals Are All Stock I Plan To Pick Up Some Rods And Pistons Soon To Start Building My Spare Motor With Hopes Of Hitting 320 hp To The Wheels After I Upgrade The Internals And Build An Intake Manifold With Bigger Throttle Body And 660cc Injectors What Do You All Think.

Not bad. I had a similar setup to what you have and put down 225/225 on 6.5psi. You have plenty of room left to grow. I went all the way up to 13psi and we figured that was around 300

Why Did You Capitalize The First Letter In Every Word?

Boost > N/A

180hp in 1989 or 260hp in 2008, you decide. Quad < Ecotec

So do you think i could hit closer to the 300 mark with what i got i will have my motor finished in a few months so im not real worried if this one pops but i feel i could easily get another 50hp if i had someone that knows their way around the jbody pcm to do a lil tweaking to the tune you guys have any more suggestions

I think so. I ran a 12.8 @ 106 on stock motor with 13psi. Pretty much the same setup you have. Mine ran strong and now I'm a built motor

Yeah my goal is to get into the 12s with what i have now i just gotta get some good tires so i can hook up im going to the track on friday so ill figure out what i can get it to run i wish i had someone local that could lean the car out to around 11.5 so i could make a lil bit more power but until i can find someone to give me a deal on cleaning up the tune then its gonna stay like it is lol

Very Nice #s !!! I also would like to get it up to 13psi, I'm just afraid that the 32lb Accel injectors are a bit small. If I go to 42lb, then I would have to retune the car.

I might actually raise the boost a lil to where i lean out to around 11.5 so i can make a lil more power but i would rather just find someone to clean my fuel tables up so its still somewhat reliable i need the car to atleast last me about a month cause my spare motor is up in indiana and im driving up there in a few weeks

10.1:1 AFR??? That's as low as the AEM goes so your likely running much richer. That's usually all the lower most dyno widebands go as well so your fuel curve on there is prolly the same. If you are really that rich you should be able to get a good chunk more in power. Or do like you said and UP the boost to lean it out some. I would be hesitant if you paid for a tune and the closest they could get you was to questionably 10.1:1 to up the boost.

yeah im just kinda feel like crap cause i paid 550 for a tune and didnt get a very good tune and now im gonna have to pay someone else that amount to get my car tuned the right way kinda gettin tired of the car bout to give up on the turbo if i wouldnt lose a ton of money i would def take the turbo off but i cant

This is why I say I would be hesitant to push the boost up because it sounds like they were a little under qualified and who knows what else was tinkered with. The problem with our cars is that most tuning shops are use to working with systems with a LOT more in regard to map resolution (cells) so they have a lot more to work with. When you toss ours on there its kinda like WTF am I suppose to do with this because we are SOO limited in comparison to the overwhelming majority.. Just takes a better understanding to work with what little room we have to play with in HPT.

Sorry to hear you paid that much for what you got.

Don't give up! you still have a nice car just some tweaking to be done...and really does it need to even be tweaked if you are planning on building the motor? or can it just wait till then. I keep trying to start on a motor build but I end up keep putting it off the more I talk to people but the hope is in the end I will have a better build.

Yeah im pretty sure the guy that tuned my car wasn't 100% sure on what he was doing it took him 2 hrs to get my car to not lean out under boost. And as far as getting the cars tune cleaned up im hoping to have Ben go over it for me. So hopefully he can get it straightened out for me and im hoping to have my intake manifold done by that time. Last night i changed the routing of my cold side and i cut the engine ground off to give me clearance and so i could put 4ga ground wire on but in excitement i forgot the ground wire and at multiple failed attempts at starting the car i smelled hot wires so i popped the hood and had my wife try to start the car and realized the only part of my engine that was being grounded was thru the oil feed line touching the brake booster so now i have a pinhole in my oil feed and the car is parked until the new one comes in which should be in a few days.

Another thing you may want to consider in the future when getting your car tuned is to find a tuner that uses a low inertia (essential for accuracy) load bearing dyno. This is the only way to really get an awesome all around tune. Your run of the mil dynos are good for WOT tunes or tinkering with an already well tuned car but not really all that great for tuning something from scratch.

If I win the lotto this is my present to myself, this dyno is pure YUMMY!!

Plan on having mine in the next year or so... If I was not in the middle of these issues with my house, I would already have it..... By far the best dynos I have ever used...

Couldn't agree more!! You sir are a lucky son of a *&%^ if you get it. I LOVE dyno dynamic dynos. They are definitely number one in my book as well. This is also the dyno I tuned my car on but I have used/operated just about every kind out there. If you don't mind I would love to come drool on it if you get it.
