I am interested in putting together a turbo kit for my sunfire, 2.2l OHV, and i was wondering what pieces i needed, which turbocharger to use, etc. I know nothing about turbos, so the more detail one can give me the better.

well, i keep seeing reference to something called an FMU, SAFC and several other things, i was wondering if anyone can explain what these mean?

also, what does retarding the timing do?

FMU = Fuel Management unit
A piggy back FPR or sorts that raises fuel pressure based on boost. It's a handicap for turbo cars with improper fuel systems for running happy amounts of boost.

which pretty much means it adds fuel when there is boost..

SAFC is a Super Air Flow Controller this is used to controll the A/F ratios to some extent. its a piggy back computer system

Retarding timing is making the spark plugs spark later in the stroke of the engine
