ok heres the deal, im not sure if this is normal or not, but i just thought id ask here and see what responses i got. Anwyays i installed my SAFC2 tonight, install wasnt bad at all, thanks for all those who helped me with that
However i did the initial set up and plugged in the recomended values and all and then started the car up, car seems to run fine, no codes were thrown or anything. My only question is under the monitoring mode should there be readings for the throttle and the knock? I seem to only be getting readings for pressure and rpms, maybe i just have no knock, but as for thr throttle i thought that read the throttle position, anyone have any ideas??? please let me know as im gonna be needing this asap, thanks
yea it should be reading throttle position. is it reading your RPMs correctly?
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
yes the rpms seem to be very accurate, i can access pretty much all of the functions, and i did a sensor check on it liek it said and the throttle sensro check came out to be like .010 or something like that. This should increase as i press on the gas correct? from like 0%-100% throttle, if im wrong go ahead and school me
As for the knocks i have no idea there, i know what engine knock or pinging is, but i have no idea if my car should be reading any right now or not. anyways the supercharger is going on tomorrow so i have a couple days to get this figured out, but im on a deadline, i want this thing done for some shos this weekend. Any help is appreciated greatly guys
thinking about things more could there be an issue with the connection? i mean i made sure they were all secure and all but i dint cut the plastic off the wires, i simply used the quick splice things you can get in the electrical section and you crimp the wires in the with the metal splicer, could these maybe not give me a good connection ? I thought this was a good idea because it would be cleaner and easier, but maybe i was wrong
I used them on all the wires thuogh and the power and grounds seem to work just fine
I noticed the same thing with my s-afc II also. There is a particulare way of calbrating the knock sensor. I did it fro mine (2.3L not sure if its the same for 2.4....but probably) and it works.
T04B V-trim baby.....Time to Open a Can of Whoop A S S !!!
Those little connector things are garbage...
If you want to get a good connection- you'll have to strip the wires back. Using a small flathead or something similar- split the threads on the wire...
Strip the connecting wire back about an inch- thread it through the other wire, and wrap it around... Now lay some solder on there- and tape it all back up..
Those scotchlock things will work- and you should get a reading, but the connection is pretty flimsy- and will usually read wrong, especially if you're hitting bumps and @!#$ in the road.

hey thought i could add.. i put one on a 03 eco and we just spliced the wires by cutting the insalation a pulling it apart a little wraped the wire around and then taped it.. ! don't do this it is a shoty job. go with red devil this is the only way you know! you will have a good conection. and make sure you have the map senser signal wires wired right, the car will still run if they are wrong but it will run rich and it will even run if it is disconected completely. but good luck and if you want a fast soldering job go to radio shack and get one of those cold heat guns they realy do work great on small things like this
