Question, I posted eariler on this.. but being I have the JBP Stage 2 Cams, and I am buying a turbo kit.. I had debated on MAYBE swaping my (new) cams for either boosted cams, or I also heard to perhaps just go too the Secret cam swap?
exhaust cam out of a 92 Grand Am with a 2.3l Quad 4
intake cam from a 95 Achieva 2.3l Quad 4 both vin "D"
Just an idea.. =)
P.s.
Please remember, I currently have the JBP Stage 2 cams in the car.. personaly i don't want to take them out, its a pain in the butt, but I'm only trying to get ideas on what I should decide.

You are what you Drive!
Bump ^^ Any one...?
I know typicaly "Buying custom grounded cams" is the best way to go.. but trying to find out if these will work, or if they are worth it. And in my case, if my JBP Stage 2 cams are worth keeping in my car, or going thru the headache to remove them and install another style\seyt-up.

A few people have used the hybrid/"secret" cams with boost and been pleased with the results... SpeedracerZ.... Greenz24 Jake....
What are the profiles on those JBP stage 2 cams? If there is too much overlap ad not enough duration (I believe) all you will do is lose power... boosted cam profiles move in the opposite direction of N/A cam profiles.......
Basically N/A all you want to do is exit ALL the air you can out of the cylinders... with boost you want to hold it in for that extra fraction of a second for a better combustion instead of bleeding the boost out of the exhaust...
The hybrids are mild enough to pull that off...
Good luck bud.

Too much overlap and not enough duration? Cam overlap is direclty related duration. Duration is the amount of time the cam holds the valve open per rotation of the cam shaft. Over lap is the time period when the intake cam starts to open the intake valves before the exhaust valves have closed, basically the time when both intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time.
N/A cams vs boost cams is pretty vague, the boost side should also be broken down in to supercharged vs turbocharged cams.
Cams for a turbocharged motor will work better with a shorter duration simply for the fact they have an extremely restrictive exhaust system. When you have extreme backpressure in the exhaust manifold like turbocharged motors have it makes it harder for the motor to inhale air when the intake valves open during the over lap before the exhaust valves have closed due to the backpressure.
Supercharged and N/A motors don't face the same problem caused by overlap because they don't have the extreme backpressure on the exhaust side like a turbo motor does.
I hope that makes some sense.....
