Need some help/opinions/suggestions please!
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 4:48 PM
Ok so I got the 2.6 pulley on my s/c right now. I have the walbro fuel pump, 310cc injectors, cartech fmu, alky injection kit, wideband also.

Ive got my a/f's mid to high 12s. My knock input on my wideband screen show at about 5500-6000 I get .5 volts of knock ( No idea what that equals but the scale is from 0-5 volts)

I DON"T have the reflash because im a 99 so I don't have timing control and all that stuff.

This is what has been bugging me for a while: What shall I do to get rid of the knock if that amount is even anything to worry about. Maybe its just picking up vibrations from elsewhere? I was thinking of getting my a/f's into the low 12s max but I would need to upgrade my injectors.
These are the options I've come up with so far:
1. Get MSD to play with timing
2. Get bigger injectors
3. Get bigger injector for the alky kit to see if that helps

And my max psi with the 2.6 is 8lbs.

Thanks guys for your help and sorry for all the writing.............

Truly, you need to get a scanner or a laptop program to read the ECU. See what knock it shows. You knock input on your wideband, where is it getting it's signal from? Increasing the alky spray could for sure help if it is real knock.

Theres a wire coming off the wideband that connects directly to the knock sensor signal wire. I've been thinking maybe I didn't get a big enough injector for the alky kit.

I think you really need to verify if it is real knock or not.

Ok I was just curious.

In that case, do what John Higgins suggested.

Here one of these.

http://www.obd-2.com

I have the OBD-2 program, but I want to get the elmscan. I actually have the black cord going from the OBD port to the pc, but need the rest.

The elmscan looks pretty good 150 bucks and i need to get the cords also. So this one will show me what my timing/knock is doing and also it'll show all the other sensors too?

This will allow you to see all your sensor, IAT, knock, timing etc.... You can log the data while you drive and go back and read it. You should get everything you need cords and all for the $150. I think you can get it for less, closer to $100. I got the OBD cord from them for like $20, but that should come with it.

what does your a/f ratio look like when you crank up the FMU?

what size water injection nozzle you got? a M2?

^ The fmu is cranked all the way up. A/F's go from 12.0-12.9.

Yea I'm pretty sure I have the M2 nozzle.

i wonder what my a/f ratio is on the stock injectors with the FMU/walbro pump. hmm. spark plugs look great. but i am at 5 psi.

anyways i also have the M2 injector. i think it would be a good idea for you (and me) to upgrade to the m3 injector. i know another guy on here running the m3 injector and haveing great results ( 13.2 in the 1/4 on just the charger@10ish psi and alky injection/ many other mods).

the M2 is rated for 200hp, but you have to keep in mind that the fluid has to flow through the s/c first and probably gets evaporated b4 it even gets to the intake vavles.

so the m3 i think is the way to go with the s/c. check E BAY, coolingmist or enginerunup. they are like 7-8$ plus shipping.

good luck/ keep us updated

Yea I was planning on doing that no matter what( Upgrading the nozzle). Just seems like the M2 is too small .......

My spark plugs look good too...They are tan...no white on them.....So i dunno. I'm hittin like 8-9 max on the charger also...

Also what kind of mix are you using for the heet/distilled water?? I've been dumping 2 bottles of heet and then filling one of the heet bottles up with water and doing a 2 to 1 mix.

After looking at it more they have the newer version elmscan5, which works on all OBD2 cars. I might end up getting that one, so I can use it on other cars as well.

ya i was using windsheild wiper fluid at first. then i switched to a 50/50 mix of yellow bottled HEET and distilled water. then i drained that stuff as i parked the car for the winter and plan on using about a 40/60 mix of heet and water this spring.
