Ok I've got about 2500 miles of manual driving under my belt now. I'm very confident, but still have a couple questions.
1) It seems like if I'm in say 3rd gear, and then take a corner with the clutch in and then accelerate again (still in 3rd at low speed), it looks like I'm driving the car with the RPM's lower than idle (900). is that possible?
2) It doesn't matter if you skip gears does it? (example: Hard acceleration to 35 mph in 2nd gear and the speed limit is 35, so I go from 2nd to 5th to just cruise.)
I can't think of any reason why this would hurt anything, since it is a manual transmission, but figured I would ask.

1) First off man, don't clutch when cornering. You want to always brake first, get in the right gear and accelerate through the corner. I always slow corner in 2nd gear.
2) It won't hurt anything persay, but bogging your motor down can put unwanted stress on the bottom end of it. Yeah I do it too sometimes

I always go into every corner when braking, then I'll shift into 2nd and accelerate out of it. Works great.
I actually skip third gear every once and a while. I go from 2nd to 4th if I'm pushing the car hard enough and it hasn't caused a problem.
