'96 2.2l, Which trans is it???
Thursday, August 11, 2005 6:10 PM
Hey,
been gone awhile...
I've got a '96 2.2l Cav. The 5spd. tranny blew and I need to know the
"technical" model name 4 it. As far as I knew, it was an Isuzu trans.
with a hydraulic throw out bearing.(is it MR8?)
I ordered a reman.(MR8) from Autozone but it is wrong, It is set up for
a mechanical clutch. the arms on the shifting mechanism look
a little different too. If anyone can give me info. It is much appreciated.
Thanks, Dave.

FstCavZ24,
Not including the core...
$808 and change, I also found out today that there is a difference
btw. "early" and "late"
'96 J-body 2.2l. 5speed Isuzu....
early production...MR8(A)
late production.....MR8(B)

(A) = mech. t/o bearing
(B) = hydro. t/o bearing

I spoke to a tech. from Accurate Transmissions who
supplies A.Z. I guess. Oh yeah... tack on another $200 for the (B) trans.
I got lucky though and cut a deal w/ Autozone and met them halfway...
I used to work there (local), some "deal" huhhh? Oh well, 1 year warranty....
Thank 4 your responses guys ; - )
