I INstalled a b&m shifter but.. i can feel the difference when i installed it the thing is that when i put it in drive or and of the gears in kinda makes a big ass noise and it pulls Clunk... did i wire it wrong ? they are two red cables with black strips does it matter which one i hooked up ? can this be the problem ? and the off position doesnt work it just keep on pulling on the gears ?

All I know is that I heard that with the shiftplus it goes into gear and shifts harder.

If you don't have aftermarket engine mounts, then the clunk is normal.

The B&M Shiftplus and the Autotrans Interceptor both do the same thing - electronically "hack" the transmission controls to increase line pressure. This results in firmer shifts.

Stock, the engine and trans slop around a good amount in the engine bay.... add more line pressure, and the whole works will slop around even more in there.... making good clunking noises as stuff bangs into other stuff (which it's not meant to do... ) Usually it's the stock exhaust piping (even worse if you have an aftermarket header), hitting the firewall or something under the car.

Get some nice Prothane engine mounts and you'll be in better shape...

As for your other question... I don't know. All I do know is the B&M Shiftplus WAS NOT made for the 4T40E in our cars... but there are plenty of people using it who haven't had issues... so I'm assuming you've got the wrong wire (if it won't turn off).

i hooked mine up right and i still have that clunkin noise ... the thing that bothers me is when i put it on off i'm ine .. no problems but when i switch to 1 it works but if i step on the gas hard or somethin it wil switch itself to 2 while its still on 1 ... i dunno ... i just leave it off untill i wanna race .. it makes a good bit of difference ... if u ask me .

This is crazy because I've had my Shiftplus for a few months now and for some reason mine wont even work, I've put it into setting 2 before I start the car up and nothing happens, its doesn't clunk but it also doesn't shift hard when i stomp on the gas. If I leave it off and put it on setting 2 while i'm driving it also doesn't work. Anyone know what to do? Oh and sorry to thread jack if I am.

here you go

just follow the directions, i did, but i didnt do the soldering method, just wire connectors and electric tape. black wire from B&M onto blue/white stripes, and red/black stripes wire, which is right next to the blue/white stripe, with the B&M red wire.

mine seems to work, but the ETS Off light is on for both 1 and 2 (light comes on after a while for 1 and instantly on 2). i havent tested much driving on 2 cause i understand that it'll wear the tranny out. on a side note, every so often when i go at low speed-20-30mph with low rpms 1000-2500, i hear a high pitch rattling/like cans are shaking, but if i mash on the gas to higher speeds/gears its gone. dunno why, even after a tranny flush. hope this helps and hopefully someone helps me out with this situation. thanks advance.

Yeah, mine really clunks into gear, when going from neutral or park, to drive. I have stock motor mounts too. I hear it's normal for that to happen. (Motor mounts would surely fix that)

To turn the B&M off, you have to switch it off, and turn off the car (for the auto line pressure to drop).

I too feel alittle worried about leaving it on all the time, so I only use it once in a while, or at a track. But alot of muscle car guys have their tranies with it set to #2 all the time, and not too many problems with their tranies. Only diff is that they would have their pressure raised manually(with plates) as appossed to our's electronically with the switch.
