spin1r6 wrote:install will not be cheap. the trans would need to be removed from the car, then taken apart to install the diff. then reassembled and the trans put back in the car. if your not in a hurry, i can tell u how much in a week or 2, as my tranny as at the shop right now getting a quaiffe put in, then ill be having the tranny swapped in. but total, i would think would be around a g-note for the whole process if your gonna pay someone to do it. maybe more.If you don't mind, would you be able to PM me or email me or at least post here when you find out your final cost? It would mean a lot and help a lot. Thanks.
Luke Heier wrote:Just wondering why you are so against doing the NVG-T550 swap. It's really not that much custom work to get it to work. I never previously did any major work on a car, especially not with transmissions, and I was able to swap out my Isuzu with the NVG with no hitches. Let me tell you, its one hell of a tranny. I wish I would have done it earlier. And the cost really wasn't all that much. For the tranny, new seals, new throwout bearing, SPEC Satge 2 clutch, all new bolts, etc., it only cost me about $700. Doing the work yourself is the secret in low cost. If you have any questions about it, shoot me an e-mail.I'm not really AGANST doing the NVG-T550 swap... I'm not even really AGAINST the Getrag swap either... I just don't have adequte facilities, transmission expertise, or any real transmission experience at all, and I certainly can't have my car out of comission for as long as it would take me to do it... between rounding up tools, finding a place to do it, finding a place to keep the car, and rounding up help if I ever needed it, I wouldn't have a car for two or three months. Even after all that time and work I doubt I'd get it to work anyway. I can't just not have a car for that long while I screw with it, and I'm definitely not willing to pay a tranny shop some crazy price to do it for me... not worth it.
But yeah, the weakness in the Isuzu is deffinately the differnetial. That's what went out in my Isuzu and I wasn't even driving it that hard. But whatever you decide to do, make sure you do something with the diff. That is your weak point.
