Well, I'm new to transmissions, but I do know I want to swap out my auto for a Getrag.
Just a few questions and concerns.
How much will a NEW transmission cost? And where can I find one?
I've read up on this.
And this.
The second link is for the Isuzu transmission. Would those parts listed with their prices be relatively the same for the Getrag?
And where might I find those other parts?
Can I swap in aftermarket parts; clutch, flywheel, mounts, etc, with the new parts to make it easier in the long run? Meaning, can I buy the aftermarket parts and have them installed right away?
I'm still searching around and looking for more information. I'm new to everything dealing with transmissions and never post in here. I know I can probably find everything through my GM dealer, but I'm trying to get everything a bit cheaper.
Also, I'm assuming install at the dealer for this would cost big bucks. Are there a lot out there that can do the swap for a fair price? Within the north east region and into Canada?
Thanks in advance guys and I will probably be asking tons more questions when they arise.
A new transmission? Probably in the $1500 range from GM, unless you can find one somewhere else. A wrecker with low miles is probably a much better alternative
Does that include everything I would need, from GM?
And for the wrecker, head to my local junk yard or what?
I also plan on boost, but not for at LEAST another year. Would it be better to go with a Stage 2 or Stage 3?
Stage two or three what? Turbo? Clutch? I think that 1500 was just for the transmission u would still need axels flywheel clutch ecu wireharness and a few other parts. I'm currently attempting this also
here comes the boost!
Stage 3 clutch.
How much are axels? I'd get the flywheel and clutch aftermarket.
I'm just starting this up and just looking for information. Hopefully at some of these meets I'll be going to in the summer I can get more info.
