Relpacing Slave Cylinder
Thursday, May 04, 2006 5:20 PM
This weekend i am replacing the slave cylinder on my 96 sunfire (2.2). Are there any do or donts?? The haynes manual i picked up is vague and doesnt provide too much detail. I am currently leaking the clutch fluid (it is draining from the resevoir and leaking between the engine and the tranny) Will i have to replace any other parts? The clutch was replaced about 30,000km ago. Is there a chance that the fluid leaked onto the any of the clutch assembly parts? I didnt notice a sticky for dropping a tranny is there a link anyone is aware of??

Thanks,

Josh (A new sunfire owner who just started to enjoy the new car)

support the engine pull the trans off and have some gm synromesh fluid handy, also i recommend replacing the clutch master cylinder as well no sense in putting a new slave just to have more gunk from the master plugging it up again, that is just my opinion though not to difficult to do though as long as you know what you are doing
