Ecotec Clutch And Flywheel Recomendations

Since I need a new clutch and flywheel I was planning on going with spec again for their stage 3+ option for our car. I put 22,000 miles on my previous setup with no issues..

Anyone else have other recomendations?

I guess it depends on your goals for the car and clutch. I'm not too impressed with the stage III and it's life as a daily driver, but depending on your power levels it might be needed.

stage 3 is not to bad for a daily driver but i from what i have seen you doing it may be a good choice. i would do a stage 2 if i had to do it again but i have no problems with it as a daily driver.

The only other company that I know of that makes a clutch for the Eco is Mantapart... but yeah, stay away from them. The Stage 3+ hasn't really been out long and I doubt many people have experience with it. Most will tell you of the normal Stage 3.

I think your only real question is flywheel. In that case, either try to get ahold of an Old RK one, or Spec/Fidanza (if they've fixed their shearing problem I IM'd you about).

I put 22,000 miles on a Spec Stage 3 Clutch and Spec Flywheel and have never had a problem.

My buddy put 45,000 miles on his spec setup (the same) when his clutch retainers when and the springs came out.

I feel that amount of miles with no problems is good for me.

Clutch Masters make Ecotec clutches but a stage 1 is like $600

So Spec Stage 3+ here I come

I was in no way saying Spec is bad, I love there product, but for daily driven car I do not want to replace a clutch after 25k. I have seen MyLife clutch as well and he will need to replace it soon. From what I'm seeing the stage III has a short life. Still a good clutch.

Oh I know you weren't, I was just stating that I haven't had a bad experience with them. My buddy put 45,000 miles on his spec stage 3 and Spec flywheel on his 2.4.

I know they are a good product... I had that clutch in for 3 now, but hell might as well replace it while its out.

275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!

Off subject alittle I have an 02 ls sport with no boost and 83K on the ecotec with a getdrag and my clutch and first gear rattle. First gear under acceleration and the clutch at full depression. Any Ideas or recomendations for replacing it? I have already been told 1000.00 by numerous places and that is due to the slave cylinder being attached to the throw out bearing? any help would be greatly appreciated. I have used search numerous times also for all those who would like to tell me to use the search button.

Yes... You were just passed by a cav!! Sucka!

I had the stage IV six puck with the unspring disk. I had about 8-9,000 miles on the clutch before I even put on the slicks. I had about 15-18 runs on the 230hp & 260 tq tune with the slicks launching between 5000-5200 rpm with the slicks without any slipping that I noticed. And then about 4-5 runs on the 275hp & 306 tq tune launching around 5,000 rpm with the slicks. The slicks would spin through 1st, and the clutch would usually slip in 2nd and a little bit in 3rd.
During those first 8,000-9,000 miles, the car was driven daily. I am guessing that I wore the clutch out alot driving on the street / in trafffic.

I think the tq rating for the stage 4 is like 400 isnt it? Not even that High I think its like 360 or something, the stage 3+ is 465. But anyway yeah I romped my clutch bad for 22,000 miles and never had a problem...

break in is very important

i have a stage 2 spec with a fadanza fly wheel and i have chattering in neutral, with clutch not depressed (only after it warms up) and it gets louder the longer the car runs. when depressed it goes away (or can't hear it again until release the clutch pedal) would that be my throwout bearing. i bought the kit brand new. any input would be nice! i have 2002 5 speed ECO 2.2 (NOT MUCH LUCK FINDING PEOPLE WITH THIS CAR!)
