I have a 93 3800 SC motor sitting at home in my parts car and I would like to mate it to a 5 spd tranny for use in one of my cars. I have heard the 2.2L 5 spd bolts up to it, with the flywheel just having to be custom or ground. Is this true? I have the chance to get a 98 Sunfire 2.2L 5 spd with 60K for $100, and if it will work I'll pick it up. If not I am going to pass on it unless someone wants to give me a little more than that for it.
So, will the 98 Sunfire 2.2L 5 spd tranny mate to a 3800 SC (L67) motor? Thanks.

The L67 is the the code for the Series I motor? (205hp, M62 blower, LAME)
I could have swore to god that I replied to this same question like... 1 or 2 weeks ago. So, i'm not going to be like everyone else and tell you to search for it. You can probably find it without using search.
Yes, the L67 was used for both Series 1 and Series 2 Supercharged motors. The reason I ask is I already have the motor, so I am working with what I got. Bolt pattern is the same for the Series 2 so if I got one of those, I would switch it.
And I'll look around. Haven't had much luck other than knowing the 2000 one will work. I unfortunately and looking at a 98 Tranny, and was told 95-99 were different than the 2000+ trannies.

95-99 is the Isuzu-designed but (unfortunately) GM built transmission... the 00-05 is the Getrag designed and built trans.
I've been told the 2.2L (non-Ecotec) trans is the one that bolts up to the 3800.... so... I know for sure the 2200 motor was the same 98-02... if it's the same bellhousing as the 95-97 2.2L... then you could use any 2.2L trans. The 2.4L and 2.2L Eco won't work.
