This past weekend, my cousin and I changed the clutch in my '97 Sunfire 2.2... It's not the first time he has done a clutch although we didn''t resurface the flywheel as around here, its apparently not all that common for people to do it and no one knows where to get it done, even mechanics?
After finishing it up and putting everything back together I took it out for a test drive and when I depress the Clutch pedal it makes a clicking sound....almost like something is rubbing, like a flywheel bolt hitting a guard of some sort. My first thought was maybe a faulty throwout, which was new, butt I'm starting to think the flywheel may have something to do with it...
The new clutch was an Exedy kit, it feels and works great, other than this sound when I push it down, anyone ever hear of anything similar to this or have any idea what it may be?

Carquest and Advance Auto sell resurfaced flywheels. Machine Shops should be able to turn the flywheel easily. I question your area's mechanics.
Sounds like the throwout is ether not secured onto the release fork. Another possibly is the flywheel was not torqued using the right bolt sequence or proper torque, resulting in bolts left loose.

Its only when you have the clutch pedal out? or pushed in? If your talkin when its in. then I would have to bet that its just the tip of the fingers of the pressure plate touching the clutch disc, my spec clutch did that. I find it kinda hard to leave a bolt loose, unless...you dont know what your doing and u shouldndt even consideer doing a clutch. I wouldnt jump to that right away. any other issues like slipping, vibrations at high rpm, a sparatic clutch (grabs at different pedal hieghts)?
I guess I should have reworded my problem...the mechanic i talked to said they usually replace the flywheel when they change a clutch.
Back to my problem, it only makes noise when the clutch is pushed to the floor....the pedal pressure is consistent....and the clutch works and feels great....
The only problem is the noises its making.....
Noise when the clutch is disengauged? Thats weird. I have a chatter when the pedal is up and idling, surprisingly i can hear that above a 40 series original flowmaster...
