Sunday, February 11, 2007 7:07 AM
i just scraped out a 97 cavalier 2.2 auto (3 speed i think). i was wondering, is the outer cv joint the same as a 2000 cavalier 2.2 5 speed. my 2000 is making some nosie and i was thinking that i could just switch them.

So you are going to split the out axles off the inner shaft and put it on your current one? I do not know if they are the same (probably are), but I would not do that. You have to get a new boot to do so those boots you buy from the auto parts store suck. I would get a whole axle.

iam going to take the outer cv joint(outer race, cage, inner race and the balls) off the old axle and put it on my axle.
