They are both made by Fidanza actually
I bet if you weigh them they weigh between 7-7.5 pounds and one chooses to list it each way.

CORRECTION****
They BOTH USE to to be made by Fidanza, SPEC now has theirs made in house or by someone else.
They are both the same design though, Fidanza is a lot cheaper.

Both Spec and Fidanza "licensed" to make flywheels. Both companies are participating members in the
SFI Performance Specifications Program. This is a quality assurance program these companies go through in which they are re-certified every 2 years.
If you look on the flywheel, you'll see a sticker that has the SFI logo and underneath it will say Spec 1.1. It looks like this
If you see this, chances are you are in safe hands. Of course there is always the change you can receive a bad part from the lot, but this is the exception, not the rule. Just chalk it up to bad luck if you get one of these.

SFI is not a quality assurance program PER SAY. It does help guarantee the quality of the product but It is more a racing safety standards rating. If you don't see that tag, it's not legal on racecars faster than certain speeds and times. The tag is on everything from flywheels to harnesses to clothing. Remember though that SFI approved parts can, and do, fail still. Everytime you see a blower come off a Top Fuel car or Funny Car instead of just sliding off to the side and dangling there, their SFI approved and required blower straps have failed, for example. Please don't think that because it has the SFI tag it means it is a perfect part that can never fail.
