Rapping/Thudding while decelerating
Monday, May 21, 2007 10:07 PM
Before i parked my cavalier for winter, i thought i blew the diff... great. parked it got a isuzu impulse diff with a Phantom Grip LSD insert.

This all started when taking a turn pretty quick and jumping on the gas, it was a left hand turn, after that heard a hitting/thudding sound coming from infront of me.

Fastforward to last weekend, did a clutch, slave, replace the diff and installed (diff was toast) get it all ready, and the @!#$ is still making the sound! I've heard suggestions on doing an axel and a bearing, the guy that pulled the diff (who's a gm tech) said everything in the tranny was in good working order.

what are the chances i have to pull the tranny again?

This sound only happens when slowing down/decelerating, it seems noticibly louder when in gear then out, and i'm starting to feel it in the steering wheel. otherwise accelerating i cant feel a thing

the shorty axel is still factory, 98 2200, 165k kms.

Thanks guys!
