hey... i just bought a 98 z24 auto not too long ago and i just dropped a fairly new engine into it..... now i started to drive it out one day (about 2 or 3 weeks after the engine was dropped in) and the gears(or wat sounded like the gears) started to grind as soon as i released the break, sometimes is bad enought that the car wont move when u realease the brake(you have to give some gas to move it resulting in grinding)... now it hasnt done anything like this until now... only the 4 forward gears grind, reverse sound alright (although there is a click as soon as you release the break)... i was just lookin for the input of some of your opinions
check your cv axles make sure they didnt back out on you and check the fluid level in the transmission youll have to put the whole car on a lift (prefferably) or jackstands. there will be a plug on the passenger side of the transmission that looks like this
put a catch pan under it and pull the plug. if no fluid comes out stick your pinky in up to the first knuckle if its not covered in red start the car and leave it running - add a quart of fluid run it through the gears 5 seconds in each repeat the process untill fluid starts to run out the hole.
If the transmission fluid checks out pull the motor and tranny and re attach the torque converter.
I just cant drive 55
yeah check the TC bolts...may have come loose maybe
