this past week its been pretty cold at night. when start the car up and try to @!#$ to reverse it really hard to shif like the cables r frozen or something and after driveing it around and shifting it get better to shift... anyone else have this problem or know what goin on??? thanks for ur time
The answer is pretty much self explanatory, if you drive it and it warms up and gets better, than it doesn't like being cold! haha.
I have the same problems, i think it is pretty much okay.
I'm back from the dead.
Currently Driving: RSX Type-S.
My Cavalier Burnt up :-(
I had that issue with my cav and also with my current cruiser.
ok just didnt want to mess it up or something u know...thanks alot...
mine did that when it was really cold a long time ago.
just let it warm up before you drive it if its that cold outside
Mine did that last night and is still frozen up.......lol
yea i hate it when that happens feels like im gunna break the cables again but i but brand new ones n so they should b good for awhile...
My 99Z did that in MI winters. Usually sorted itself out rather quickly. A loooong time ago there was a good sized thread on this and it's very common.
Guys...this is actually related to the effect of temperature on viscosity of the transmission fluid. Are you all running stock fluids or have you upgraded to something more agressive?

For me it was OEM synchromesh.
same here GM syncromesh.
Before i leave work through the gear to get the fluid moving and i shift slowly into 2nd.
for me i just put some thick oil in it guy at advance auto got it for me so yea dont know what it is but it works for now..goin to put the synchromesh stuff
