Have narrowerd it down to by the differential on my 2.4 isuzu 5 speed has been ticking for some time.
Was told by some people and a mechanic that its likely a throwout bearing. So I had the clutch and throw out bearing replaced. Didnt fix the problem, but the throw out bearing was leaking really bad at the time, so no harm done.
The mechanic told me that he would suggest putting 90 weight gear oil in to quiet it down. He knows that syncromesh is supposed to be in there, but said he has done 90 weight in a few isuzu's with good luck.
Not worth it to replace the transmission at this point, so im looking to get as much time as I can out of it.
Your guys thoughts?

That's like putting a band-aid on after cutting your leg off. It might quiet it down, but it isn't going to fix the problem. And remind me never to go see your mechanic, he's a hack at best if his solution is to pour heavy oil into a failing part.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
I completely understand, But I paid 2k for the car 2.5 years ago, and want to make it last as long as possible, until its new car purchasing time.
The mechanic definitely suggested to just get it fixed, but with all the body damage, leaking sunroof, trashed carpet, its just not worth another $500 to fix it up. Which $500 would be way cheap for tranny work.
