what to do with the tranny?

i have a 01 z24 that needs a new clutch soon.

I'm deciding on the exedy OEM replacement with a fidanza or Spec flywheel.

Couple concerns though: Is the Exedy worth the money to get compared to OEM? or just the same stuff for more money?

Also, anyone know the weight of the SPEC clutch?

I can't seem to find it. >.< I know the Fidanza's 8.5. What about the SPEC?

Please advise ASAP. I really need to get a new clutch soon.

And no, I don't have the money for a new aftermarket performance replacement =(

well I don't have a whole lot of resources where I am.

I've seen mixed reviews. Some tell me that the middle friction plate tends to pop off. Some tel me it's been great. =p

I'd rather spend a bit extra for the new SPECS if they are less prone to that. However, I really would like to find out how muc hthe epc Weighs. I Can't seem to google it or anything. NOne of the websites indicate anything.....

Also, my PRIMARY concern is regarding the Exedy OEM clutch w/ slave.

Please keep on topic and tell me things I don't already know.

The Exedy clutch is most likely the exact same clutch you would get from the dealer. They are usually cheaper than going to the dealer as well.

I have an Exedy in my 98 and it is a LUK clutch. Every marking is identical to the original clutch that I removed.

thank you Mitdr.

Tinkles can learn a thing or 2 about not being an ASS from you.

He isnt being an ass there. Quite a few people have had those flywheels fail. Personally I use a stock flywheel as I had a Spec/Fidanza fail on me. I dont like having a flywheel separate at 4000-4500 RPM. Im glad the bell housing contained it.

Also I would like to add that when I feel a situation calls for it I can be an ASS.

I agree. Flywheel vs. foot and/or leg would be a not so great situation.
