I know that a manual is easier to build up. but i got an auto and really want to get some ideas on what i can do to build some performance up. I've searched on jbody an only came across a coupe of things. i was thinking of swapping out for a manual but i decided to just keep the Auto in this 97 sunfire GT, and just buy another but manual. but anywho I heard of Auto Trans. cooler. Is this something that will help?, and do i need to buy a temp gauge then? is their any shift kits i can get put in? Any ideas are welcome Thanks Headthumper

first.. get yourself a b&m shiftplus unit (basically an electronic shift kit) then look up "4t40e high stall torque converter" on ebay. thats one thing that will help that trans out A LOT.
hit up turbotechracing.com and purchase their automatic trans solid mount.
and yes.. ultimately upgrading to a larger trans cooler would be a good idea. stock you have one as part of the radiator but an external one will do better.
if your car or tranny have low mileage you can swap in some sythetic transmission fluid for a little bit of a 'kick'. but i would definitely advise doing a fluid flush and filter change regardless.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
is there anything outthere for the 3t40
