ok i got a 89 z 2.8 just did a 5 speed swap and i was wondering is the bell housing for a 2.3 quad four engine the same as the 2.8 or would i be better off trying to bore out a 3.1 to a 3.4 and use the 3.1 crank just dont like the low rpms the damn 6 gives i got the tranny off a 94 so im gonna do a hole custom set up so i would have to go 94 quad four if it fits or the sfi 3.1 and bore it and update it to be a obd2

the 60 degreev6s 2.8,3.1,3100,3400,3500..... are a diffrent bell housing as the quad four. why not 3400 or 3500 swap ur car for more power. for the best info on second gens and 60degree v6s try v6z24.com or 60degreev6.com if u havent been there there full of good info. and u can run even newer motors on obd1.
