they changed with the trans in 2000.
op: keep checking the classifieds here and ebay, as its likely the only places you'll find it for a price you're willing to pay.

that does not look like the short shifter i have on my 97 2.2
I lucked out and got one in the classifieds for 40 or 50 bucks..had to do a little custom work to get it to work right..the one piece kept poping off the side and the one screw would always come loose..loctite fixed that.

i have the ralco unit, and am extremely satisfied with it. only thing i would recommend is to threadlock the setscrew which holds the pivot ball on the shaft. otherwise, install is a snap, and the shifting is a vast improvement over stock. i'd recommend new cables at the same time, and you'll think you have a new car.

The first one has alot more pictures and looks identical to the one i have, which is an ebay special(bought it from another org member tho).
The install is pretty straight forward.Everything that thats riveted together gets bolted back together. You'll also need a grinder to cut the base down. After that everything else just goes together.
I had 2 small problems with mine tho,but were fixed rather easily.Theres a set screw on the side...take that out and another one is behind it.I used some blue loc-tite on it,tightened it down, put the other one in and it worked great. No more twisty shifter.
The other problem i had was with the long rod towards the back of the shifter on top,the part that holds the swinging arm in.The bolt that i got with mine was too long,my shifter didn't come with the spring that goes in between the bolt head and the plastic of the shifter.I just went to the hardware store and got a bolt to fit,and used some electrical tape to keep it stable.
If you need more pics or help...let me know.

yes, actually b&m still produces their shifter which, if you feel like shelling out the cash, from what i hear is well worth it.

You don't need a new shift boot...my stocker just pushes down and still fits fine.
I'd like to get a new knob and a boot,but it's not a needed.

the two at the bottom appear to be genuine b&m parts. However, if you're going that route, i would contact one of the vendors on here (TTR, CarCustoms) as they're stand up guys and have excellent customer service.
