If it's the 4.11 FDR, i believe the holes for the axles on the storn diff are too big. Might wanna check on that first.

it is the 4.11, i put my axle in just to the clip and it seamed fine. Maybe I should put it in all the way.

The 4.11 is fine with stock axles. Nothing needs to be done for it to fit. No machine work, nothing.

ok so when I'm trying to put the case halves back together, the passenger side tapered bearing on the diff won't line up completely. Its off just a but. I tried using a bar and tried to turn the gears over by hand but still wont line up. The case is just to the alignment pins but wont go any further. I tried to use a couple bolts in the case to slowly bring it together but that just binds the gears right up. any suggestions?

Did you swap the gear that mates to the Final drive gear?

You DO know that a 4.11 FDR is the result of the difference in sizes between TWO gears...not just the differential ring gear.... Anytime you change a gear ratio you either have to change both gears (if the distance between the two shaft centerlines is not changing) or have to change the distance between the two centerlines of the shafts..

No I only changed what I have pictured. What you are saying makes perfect sense. I guess that is why I posted this question the first time. It looks like I will have to completely tear this apart and replace the mating gear from the Geo as well?

Well I had to take the gears to a machine shop to have every thing pulled apart because I don't have the proper tools. What a PITA!!!!
I got everything back together and now I cant get the axles back in...WTF!!! This thing hates me, i should have left it in the junk yard!

Just out of curiosity, while you were doing that swap, why didn't you put in an LSD kit?

Well this is a dirt tack race car, with that said...I was fully going to do that i even sent a PM for a price. Then about Three weeks ago they pulled the top 5 finishers into the infield, jacked up the cars and checked for locked diffs....don't know how I could explain it if I got cought so I passed on this.

Ahh, gotcha. I'm not sure if they'd give any crap for an LSD, since they would probably have to prove it wasn't a factory item. Locked is a different story, but better safe than sorry when it comes to being disqualified.
