Is a +48 mm offset really that bad?

Ok, I am trying to order my new rims but they come in a 48 offset, when I emailed 1010 tires 2 months ago they said they could get blanks drilled out in a +42 offset but at that moment they didn't have any left, if I waited 6-8 weeks they would have some available. It's been a little over 8 weeks so I called them, they said they didn't have any and they could back order them but have no clue when I could get them. I need these rims ASAP. I have no rims & tires now and I am being forced to move my car out of the garage. I really don't want to order from the states and alot of other cdn. sites/places don't deal with the brand I want. Considering I am sooo picky about wheels I am not changing my mind.
Enough babbling, my question is would a +48 offset be sooo bad? Like I know it runs the risk of brake and suspension problem but does it actually happen?

well a good offset is 35-45mm. 3mm isnt that big. depending on what your hitting, you may be able to roll the fenders. if its hitting your struts, well then your sol

^QBE: Do tell, do tell

Cause if there is no serious problems then I'll buy them cause the blanks are almost non-existent and the rim maker is really slow with their back orders...
