Has anyone ever used these tires? I need replacements for my Goodyear RSAs which came with the car. These have received good reviews on tirerack. I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them. Other tires I might purchase would be:
Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 with UNI-T
Yokahama Avid V4s
Kumho Ecsta HP4 716
Continental ContiExtremeContact
These have all received good reviews from tirerack users. Oh, and I need an all-season tire.
I put a set of the Kumho Ecsta HP4 716 on my g/f's 03 Civic EX. Respectable inexpensive tire overall. Does well in winter. Not a peformance tire IMO, but a good all season, daily driver tire. Slightly noisy on certain road surfaces, but that might be due to the higher PSI I put in them. I also run a pair on the back of my non-j-body during the winter following the Yokohama Guardex 600 snow tires on the fronts. Good winter grip, and predictable breaking point on snow and ice.
On my non-j-body, I run a set of Firestone Firehawk SS20 during the summer. I think the tread pattern is close or identical to the Indy 500. Whenever I drove on snow or ice, they did fairly well, and never felt out of control, unless I pushed them. My occational aggressive driving showed up in worn edges. Mine are not the quietest in the road, but that might be due to the tire being weatherchecked and vibration cracked. I originally bought them since they had the best snow traction rating on Tirerack. The Indy 500 has even better ratings in every category, I think.
I am considering getting a set of the Indy 500's since there is a $55 rebate from Firestone. A set from Tirerack would be $278.88 delivered. That, minus the rebate, is a good deal at $233.88. The rebate ends June 4th, if that matters.

Ok, thanks for the in-depth reply. Great info... in looking into the Indy 500s... maybe I'm missing something here but they are $78 a piece so that comes to $312 plus shipping. How are you coming up with $278.88 shipped before rebate??
I am looking at 195-50-15 size. They are only $60 each. I should have mentioned that.

If the Kumho ECSTA HP4 716 came in 195-50-15, I would order them before I would order the Indy's.

Personal preferance for the Kumho's over the Indy's or do you have facts to proove they are a better tire?
Well, if they did come in a 195-50-15 size, I think they would be cheaper than $60 each, so I would go with them.
No facts, but rather I think the Kumhos are a good overall tire for my application, but the Firestones are available in the size needed. They have respectable ratings on Tirerack and the $55 rebate made them a very good deal.
