I really cant decide either to go with 17's with some nice thick rubber or 18's. i am planning on getting the eibach sportline kit with some koni's but i cant make up my mind. they both look good but i am just stuck. please post your opinions and help me out!

I like more rubber myself and think 17's w 225/45/17 look great, espically w the drop of the sportlines.

yeah i think that more rubber and 17's sound alot better just because i know that the 17's will be lighter. i dont know by how much but definately lighter. 17's are probably the best thing to have for a daily driven car anyways right?

it's debatable, but typically a 17 will be a nicer ride than an 18, but that also depends on the stiffness of the sidewall of the tire in question.

I think 17's are the ideal size for J's, anything bigger just looks ugly IMO unless you alter the wheel well to be more form fitting to the tire.

I'm more performance minded. Go back to 16's! (hell, I run on 15's when I autoX)

Seriously though, anything bigger than a 17 starts to look kinda silly on a J. And your rubber is cheaper with smaller diameter rims (generally).

18's > 17's

I would rather have 17"s with more rubber also. a 225/45/17 is a mean looking tire on a j.

I've got 18's on my 2000 cavy. I like the looks of this style rim on my darker colored car.

In the spring I will have new suspension. Eibach pro kit with koni yellows.

P's 4 door with 19 Axis TC Evo's = drool. 18, 17.. your choice, both look great. BUT remmeber at night rubber = not noticable so 18's tend to look better when it is dark out. Just my 2 cents.

sometimes 17's with a slightly bigger tire actually make the rim look bigger than an 18 w/ a low profile, just fools the eye a bit. These are pretty small cars and 18's to me seem a little to big but thats just my opinion. I think 17's are superior on these cars, just ordered my 225-40-17's so it will boost my final drive gear ratio a tad and slightly throw off my speedo so my car will seem faster to my budz lol.

Whatever you decide good luck

lemme see pics when you are running the new rubber friend...was considering that size also. the 45s on some wheels look a bit thick for my taste.

It's a toss-up. I always said, I wish they made 17.5" rims. I chose 17", when I'm out of the car, sometimes I regret it, most of the time I dont though.
