I have a chance to but some wheels its 5x100 bolt pattern and the offset is 48mm i believe.
will those fit on my 2005 sunfire?
I guess my 2 questions are
IS my bolt pattern on my car 5x100?
Is 48mm offset ok?
well one other question would be what size rim?
yes 5x100 is what you want. that is the lug pattern on j's
yes 48mm is ok. im currently running 18x7.5 w/ a 48mm offset

18x7.5 is what i am possibly buying the exact same thing. no problems with it then???????????
no problems at all and im running a 225/40/18. if you feel it will rub you can always use a 215/40/18, which is a slightly smaller tire
so you do not rub or have any problems?
only when i lay my car out my tire touches the fender but i doubt you'll be laying your car out so you wont have a problem
make sure the hub bore is large enough for a j-body. It has to be at least 57.1mm. Most aftermarket wheels are larger than this, hence the need for hubcentric rings. If it's smaller, however, you'll have to have a shop machine it out. This happens on occaision because wrx's and sti's have similar offset and lug pattern, but they use a smaller hub bore (56.1?). I was going to buy a set of SSR GT2's from someone on ebay, but they hub bore was too small.

A more accurate observation has never been typed. These should be the starting points before any serious performance modification. What's the point of making a serious performer if you can't control it's power?

its a air ride term. laying the car out means to fully lower the car and lay it on the ground, hence the term laying it out. as for the hub bore. i wouldnt worry about that too much. the majority of the rims you find will be fine. make sure though you do get hub centric rings, you need them. also if you get lugs they have to be 12mm x 1.5mm
Just thought I'd add that. Most wheels seem to fall around 35-45mm offset when they're 5x100. Subies seem to be the only exception with an offset of 48+mm offset . 18" Rota's subzeros are a good example of the proper offset with a smaller hub bore of 56.1mm. Just a word of caution when buying.
