no its fine. height has nothing to do w/ wheels if you get the right tire size

I think he's meaning the width. 8" is pretty fricken wide for our cars, one would likely run a 235mm tire on a rim that wide and it'd be a really tight fit.

no 8 is fine. i know plenty of people running 8in wide rims. if it were and 8.5 then it would be cutting it

225/40/18 ok for that size?

^^^ that would be the size tire to use, for minimal speedo offset. 35mm is going to put more distance away from the suspension, so watch for rubbing on the fenders if you're dropped real far.

w/ a 1.5" drop he should be fine. if you go down anothe 1/2" then you gotta watch for rubbing

My Motegi DPK's are 18x8 with 40mm offset... area 51 is running the same kind in 19"s and no rubbing issues.

You shouldn't have any issues, though if you do rub the outter lip of the fender you could just roll the fender. Not hard to do just need a tool. Or be ghetto and use a hammer to do it but I wouldn't recommend that.
