New Goodyear Tire

Goodyear's coming out with a new high performance tire. I work for a Goodyear installer, and here's the info I remember. Its an asymeterical ultra high performance tire with Kevlar reenforced belts, and has carbon-fibre to reenforce the sidewall and give a decent ride. Its going to be a new Eagle. I'll post more info when I have the folder in front of me.

How's Goodyear junk? I know I'll never buy anything by Firestone or Bridgestone, cause I remember the tire recall, and even saw some tires that were about to seperate.

I work on cars for a living... I see tires all day long, maybe a just coinsidence that every VW goes through Goodyears faster then the Michelins and the Continentals. not to mention the rediculously over priced RSA's that come on the cavaliers... you can get more traction out of spinning a bare wheel without a tire. At work all the time I see goodyears that are dry rotted to hell and spliting all over the place, the F1's get @!#$ up in no time, they don't have any kind of treadwear, they cup and make noise in no time.

recalls has nothign to do with it I will never buy goodyears cause I've never replaced a set because they ran out of tread.... its always because they are @!#$ up

^^^yeah, my stock RSA's lasted only 20K miles, and thats with just driving to and from work. Horrible tires, just horrible. I do however love my Pirelli's.

dude i work at a dealer and all the worn tires we have are the pirelli SUV tires (scorpion zero) and the michelin mxv4's...i bought brand new goodyears for my car (tripletred) and they kickass! goodyears are the only tires that get any good wear on the cars @ my dealership.

I wouldn't say they're junk. granted they're not Nitto or Toyo or Advan, but I've got over 30,000 miles on my Eagle GT HRs and they've got plenty of grip, great wear, quiet, good in the snow and I beat the crap out of those tires. Gravel, snow, hard cornering, hard launches... Hell, I've been horrible about rotating my tires, mainly I haven't, and the fronts are only now starting to show any wear on the shoulders. And that's because I'm still running negative camber from autocross last summer! The rears still look new. I could easily pick up two new tires to replace the fronts and run the rears for another 50,000 miles. Sorry, but they're not junk. Not the greatest tire, but definitely not the poo.

there is a tire and wheel fourm for this

side note , my g/f got over 45,000 on the stock rsa's , and i know the cavalier karo had , had over 70,000 on the stock rsa's

also every car manufacture puts the LEAST EXPENSIVE tires on the lower level cars , that part of why the cars stay cheap and same cars will have 2 or 3 different types of tires

as far as the firestone/ford ordeal , alot of it was fords fault , and trying to keep the SUV customers happy with the ride , tires driven on low 20psi on a daily bassis is not good for the tires

they build up way to much heat in the carcas , and that is what kills tires

its better to over inflate the tire than run it low

Think it could be the way of driving that causes them to wear out alot quicker?

I know people with sotck RSAs that lasted 60,000 miles. . . . .

I got a set of Tripletreds for my g/f's 05 Accord LXSE. Great tire. The only other Goodyear I might have considered was the Comfortreds. On her 97 Sunfire SE coupe she had, I put a set of Aquatred 3 on it. Those were not bad.

I am not a big fan of Goodyear. It appears that they are coming out with some better tires, although they have a higher price.

When I was shopping for tires for my car, I looked at some Goodyear Eagle GTII, and some other Goodyears, but I could get better 'Tirerack rated' tires for a lower price. I finally ended up getting Firestone INDY 500 to replace the Firestone Firehawk SS20 that I had.
