i saw a lot of threads around here where people asked the same question over and over..."is this tire good, how is this one, does this one grip well", etc.
so i thought i would try to start a post where everyone here on the forum can post:
1) thier tire brand and size
2) how they grip in dry and wet conditions
3) how they grip at the track or launching at high RPM
4) how they handle thru turns, etc.
5) how smooth the ride is with them
and any other opinions you have.
so ill start off the thread:
________________________________________________________________________
i have the
nitto neo-gens that are 215-45-17
they grip just as well in the rain as in the dry.
they arent the best for high launching at high RPM, they tend to jump.
good handling overall around turns.
the ride is pretty smooth....because of my suspension you feel a little more of the road.
overall good tires...would buy them again.

Very good all season performance.
No Comment as far as launching, but quick stoplight takeoffs have less spin than the kumhos I had before.
Very grippy, especially with a lowered suspension.
Road noise is acceptable, and the ride is SMOOTH.
I got a great deal on them.
$79.99 per tire at tiresavings.com vs $139 in town.

Very good SUMMER performance, wet roads ok, but no hydroplaning at all. Snow lol, I hope not.
Launches like a bat out of hell.
I'm an auto though so high launches are like 2200 RPM.
THEY DO NOT SLIDE AT ALL, within reason. Little to no tire noise.
Road noise is great, there is almost none, ride is ok 50/50
I would get harder tire compound next time. Soft as hell throw rocks off tires or anything else on the road surface.

1) BF Goodrich Traction T/A's
2) Do excellent when dry, loose traction with too much gas in wet, great in snow
3) The dont hook up as well as a softer tire, but arent too bad, squeal going into second.
4) Car rides on rails, havent yet broken them loose in a corner
5) Pretty smooth ride, no caddy, but not too bad
Far cry better tires than what came with the car (3 Kelly's and one Continental). These have been excellent tires, could be a little better when hard acceleration in rain (3k+ in first gear).
Hate to double post, size is the stock 205/55/R16, hope to get the GForce KDW2's when i get 17's (225/45/R17)
Well, the tires I have on my Camaro are pretty good.
Up front I have Superstar Radial GT HR's, 215/60R15, and out back I have Superstar Radial GT SR's in a 245/60R15.
Essentially they are the same tire, have the same tread basically. They take WELL to turns, haven't had problems at all with them. They grip real well in pavement, my car gets crap for traction in wet weather, so I can't say much to that.
I have never had the car at a track, but I know they would hook up well with the power that I have.
They make no road noise at all either, ride is pretty good with them, even though my car rides like crap because of the factory stiffened suspension.

FIRST TIRE
Brand: Bridgestone
Model: Potenza RE950
Size: P195/65R15
Review:
The tire has pretty much taken everything i have thrown at it so far. fastest ive taken on/off ramps at was about 110 km/h or so, so not too bad. have yet to give me any trouble in the wet.
havent tested them on the track, but starts from lights have all been good, no spin, but its an auto.
turns have been great, no slip, great grip.
very smooth, alot smoother than i had anticipated.
SECOND TIRE
Brand: Michelin
Model: Energy MXV4+
Size: 205/60R15 "H" rated
Review:
nice tire. handling was good, but when taking corners fast i didnt have alot of confidence in them.
no track testing, starts were decent.
turning was fine, nothing special, but nothing terrible.
exteremly smooth ride and very light weight too.
THRID TIRE
Brand: Bridgestone
Model: RE930i
Size: 195/65R15
Review:
excelent tire, very sticky. some hydroplane, but if i was driving responsibly they were very good.
no track, but great starts.
turning was very good. like the 950's they were probably a little more tire than the car could even handle.
pretty smooth ride, no complaints.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
Bridgestone RE950's on my girls car, they're awesome couldn't agree more with ya whitegoose
size is 205/55/16
My car
Michelin Pilot MXM4
215/45/17
Dry trackion pretty good
wet kinda sucks, any snow not very impresive for an all season, so just use them in the summer
Pretty comfortable ride
Ya they spin when when you hammer them of the line, well more than the RE950's that is
First Tires:
Goodyear RS-A's
205/55HR16
...you know what they're like if you've had them, very decent.
Second tires:
Goodyear Assurance Tripletread
205/55HR16
Identical handling traits to the RS-A's... but more noise in the corners. Slightly better launch traction. Slightly smoother ride, and noticeably quieter road noise.
Plus they're a 70,000 tire, so I'll probably never have to buy new tires for my stock wheels again.
I'm getting A LOT of new stuff soon... including wheels... that's all I'll say.
Kumho 712 Good SUmmer tire. I live in Florida so no need for a change of tires. Good wet and dry traction good on the corners and you can't beat the price to performance..
Stay away from Kumho AST

first set...
Nitto NT555's 225/40/18
awesome on the dry but a bit skiddish in the wet (i also got them used on the rims i bought so they may be better with full tread)
launching was pretty good
handling is awesome. sidewalls are firm and confidence inspiring although when they do readch the limits of traction, they can be a handful.
ride is a bit harsh but they are low profile and my suspension is pretty modified.
second set...
BFG Scorchers 225/40/18
they suck... period.
launching... better be good at slipping the clutch. these things are pretty slippery.
handling is ok. sidewalls are soft and you can feel them roll over when you push it through corners. at the limits though, they are pretty easy to control.
ride is a bit softer than the nittos but it's only because the sidewalls aren't as hard.
first set
1) pierelli P7000 225/45/17
2) dry and wet traction was excellent
3) autoX grip was very well, never did high rpm launching
4) amazing turning grip
5) very smooth riding tires, low noise
bad side was the price tag (bout 200 per tire)
2nd set
1)kuhmo exta MX 225/45/17
2)great dry, wet was very close to dry
3) same as the pierelli's for autoX...didn't like high rpm launches, lots of wheelspin
4)grips corners excellent
5)decent ride, somewhat noisy
good buy for the $$$
current tires
1)wanli S1088 225/45/17
2) amazing dry and wet weather
3) handles high rpm decent...a little wheelspin and hop, but manageable
4)a joy in the turns, Iv'e tried to get them to give up and I gave up first
5)rides decent, bout the same as the kuhmo...kinda noisy
all in all, the wanli's really amazed me, ive had them for 15k miles and theyre still running strong. best part is the price...i got em from ebay for 265 a set shipped! i was skeptical at first, but i'll definatley be picking up a 2nd set when these ones go bad

more tire then my car can do with
some noise but totally liveable
Hankook/Ventus HR II H405
215/50/17
Gripped great in dry and wet, even snow was doable
No trips to the track but were definitely great for take off
These handled very well through corners and turns, I played alot on a cloverleaf freeway exit I used to frequent on my way home from work.
The ride was smooth but there was a bit of noise. Definitely tolerable
Overall these tires rocked. Very stiff rubber, 50 series looked sleek and I got my mileage out of them for sure.
Hankook K106
They grip well in dry, ok in wet and not at all if there is the slightest bit of ice or snow
Launching in dry is awsome, even with the added torque of the S/C
Cornering was iffy, I never fully trusted these tires honestly
Ride was ok, quiet enough
Downfall to these tires....Soft sidewalls, like driving on a pool innertube. Couldnt take pot holes or the heat. I had one sidewall slice from a pothole(pretty bad one but still) and just today I had the inner wall of another open up on the highway. These things arent very old and not very many miles on them. I say they suck DO NOT buy these unless you're only going to use them on the track and even then I'm sure you'd find something better.
Firestone Blizzak in whatever size a base cav comes with stock
They grip great in snow and ice for sure, and since I had to put them on in September once for various reasons, I can say that the warmer/dryer weather does not eat them away too fast like some other snow tires might.
They grip great for take off for normal speeds in the worst of snow. In the dry, I once turned the trac control off and slammed the gas to see what they'd do.....lets just say there was a bit of smoke.
Handling was great in the snow and ice, never felt like I was headed for the guardrail, and in the warm/dry you could feel the sway from the softness, but they could hold their own.
smooth ride at all times, really amped up my summer tires noise right after I'd change them over after winter.
NO to the K106, I'm off to buy some more Hankook HR II right now...
Goodyear Fierce HP's 225/40/18
they grip great in wet and dry conditions
bite really well at high RPM/really hard to rip them off
hug the road through turns and reduce body roll
ride could be a little better. then again after going from 195/70/14's anything feels rough.
overall...i would recommend them to anyone looking to get a nice 18 inch tire.
Nankang NS-II's, 225/40/18.
These tires are very quiet, little to no road noise. They handle great and I have a hard time burning spinning these off the line, which is great! i could spin the stockers like no other. not to shabby in the rain either. Got these in a package w/ the rims through wheelmax. Wouldn't recommend wheelmax.
*bump* these same questions are starting to pop up again.
should this maybe be a sticky?

Continental Cont-Extremes 215/45/17
Wet or dry a good tire. Lasted 40,000 miles and drove until it was at the wear bars.
2nd set
General Exclaim UHP 225/45/17
So far an excellent tire. I have 8,000 miles on them and they are great in the rain, quiet and cornering is simple and direct. No issues with these so far and I'm expecting 40,000 out of them also.
03 fire. Yeah's it's an ECO.
toyo proxes fz4s 215/45/17
great all around tire... great in dry conditions, good in wet... havent had a chance to test them in snow, the cavy was broken down this winter. havent taken them to a track yet, but they are very smooth starting tires. handle excellent through corners, no slipping. the ride is fairly smooth, a little noise over bumps at high speeds.
the only problem with them is their not produced anymore... the proxes ts1 replaced it which is also a great tire.
Check out my build thread!
