yes i know... i searched, but couldnt find what i needed...

48mm = standard offset on a 2000 cavalier?

wheels im looking at...

Bolt Pattern: 5x100

Size: 17"x7"

Offset: +38mm <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< whats the 38mm going to change... offset obviously... but what will it do... move the wheel outward from my cars middle, or inward under the body panels?

yes the lower the number the more out the wheel sits and the higher the number the more in it sits. i cant imagine how you searched becaused this is always brought up. anyway a 38mm offset is fine to run and wont hurt anything
