WTF Rubbing?
Tuesday, September 09, 2008 2:11 AM
So the rims in my sig ar ethe rims I have on my car. There 18/7.5 ADR rims, The tires are 225/45/18 offsett is 42mm. The cars dropped on KYB AGX's alll around with B&G reds for springs.

I bought this setup because I have heard this wont rub, but I have rubbed off mark on my inner wheel wells, I have pieces of the damn tired chunked out from the @!#$in fenders and the rim/tire setup cost 1200 which I am I going to have to sell because everythings @!#$ hitting.

I am not even bothering rolling the fenders becuase of the interior rubbing issues.

My question is i though 225/45/18 was the correct tire and 18/7.5 42mmoffset was a very very safe route to go when going to 18's. Has anyone else have had rubbing issues?

I dunno I just pissed because I have to sell the rims I had for barely a season... hell there isn't even a scratch on them yet.

ok end rant, sorry just wanted to know if anyone had such @!#$ty rubbing issues.. and hey! wanna buy some rims with fresh rubber?

no 225/45/18 is not the correct size, 225/40/18 is. if you werent lowered you probably wont have a problem and your probably only noticing the problem when you turn. you can keep it and roll the fenders (which is pretty much given when you lower a car and throw on bigger wheels) and that may solve the problem but my suggestion is get the correct size. if your still worried about rubbing you can even go as low as 215/40/18, that will help decrease the side wall height a bit.

225/40/18s with 18" MR7s and sportlines here, and I see a patch of rubbing on the front right only. This happens during full-lock left turns, but the noise is damned obvious. Seems like it should take quite a bit of selective hearing to chew the tire.

I bet those 225/45/18's look pretty sweet on the car, but they are too tall. 45's on 17's, 40's on 18's.

However, if it were me, I'd be looking at ways to make clearance for those. Pull your fender liners and roll the lip, maybe?
I like a nice full wheel well, and the overall height isn't terribly off, but will actually ride nicer than the lower size.

Any good detail pics of the clearance etc., and side shots of the car, etc?

18" SSR GT3's with 225/40/18's for me. I'm running a +35 offset to make my fit perfect. Also I'm rolling with Sportlines and AGX's.
