Ok I drove on my 17s last winter and I noticed a few spots of corrosion on the outer lip of my wheels. Nothing I could really tell unless I was looking for it. But it seems to have spread in the last year (I had them in the basement this winter). Now I have one wheel with some speckled corrosion about 6 inches long on the lip. Now is this just a simple as some polish or am I screwed?
This is the wheel Riax SECA 17 inch. I cant find if the lip is cleared or not, due to the fact that the company no longer has a website I can find. I assume not but the wheel is aluminum
Well if it was cleared it shouldn't have corrosion, but it would be possible that the clear is going bad. Pics of said corrosion?
I thought it was cleared but then I saw the spotting and I havent seen any chipping of clear or anything. I cant get a clear picture of it due to the small size of the spots. Its just a cluster of small rust colored spots. I can tell its not just dirt because I can feel it but I noticed today the other front wheel is doing it to. So I want to try and get it headed off before it spreads.
If it wasn't cleared you can use a polish like Mothers wheel polish. If it doesn't clear up easily use 0000 steel wool with the polish.
Ok Ill try that out. Thanks.
