Just recently purchased a 00' Z4 for my girl and one of the wheel studs has enough damage on the threads to make putting the lug on very difficult. Instead of replaceing I just need to re tap the first 1/4 of teh lug, but I cannot find the information on what size tap to use. If anyone can help it would be great, need to get it done soon, I am starting a new job htas gonna keep me busy 60 hours a week and I need this car to be safe for my girl to drive. Tried to find the info here but saw mainly specs on rims sizes. Thanks again
12x1.5 if I remember correctly. New studs are only a couple bucks and take little to no time to replace. That may be less expensive than buying a tap/die to clean up the threads.
Just get some new studs. Very cheap and easy to replace.
new studs is a better idea. at 1.50 a pop you take away any other future headaches.
You dont use a tap on external threads.
A new stud is cheaper than a die for those threads. Hell you could replace all the studs for how much the die costs. Not to mention this way is safer.
