I have been postponing fixing the crack on the upper dash pad for some time now, have all the material for glassing it, and have been debating spending money on a dash pad.... however I recently siliconed the crack so my dash is one piece again, as it was only one crack straight down the middle, but my question is....
Do they sell a body filler for plastics?
Something I could just fill in the crack with, sand flush, and paint the whole dash.......?
I asked my Local canadian tire guys, but they werent any help.
Also.... I realize that many think it would just crack after this, but when it cracked it spread apart and I siliconed it as such so I think the stress is relieved?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
are we talking about the dash pad, or the dash part closest to the windshield?

GET THE COVERLAY MADE FOR IT.....CALL IT A DAY.
Im talking about the part closest to the windshield..... and I was going to buy a coverlay.... just the cash issue comes into play..... also I need to take my dash apart for other reasons anyhow, so figured if there was a product that worked like a bodyfiller but for plastics, I could make a fix that looks a bit better than the crack for the time being.
another vote for coverlay.
you fix it, it will crack again somewhere else.

+1
you can attempt to fix it all you want...it will still crack.

or the toughest way out, buy a new dash shell and remove alllllll of it and replace it.
but i just say get the coverlay also
Looks like I'll be looking into the coverlay..... the thing is, I was planning on using a hacksaw blade to cut out the whole front piece, then fix it, paint it, and make a way to put it back on..... so would cutting it from the whole dash not relieve any stress put on it, therefore stopping it from cracking again.... otherwise... what is stopping the coverlay from cracking as it just pops over top, if the original dash pad was cut from the entire dash structure, would it not essentially have the same purpose?
Thanks for the input.
because the coverlay does just that, pops over the top.
theres very minimal stress on it since its not bolted in place where it can move and flex and cause cracking
