I asked this question a while back and searched to see if anyone else asked but haven't found anything so far.. Any way.. I've got a small tear on my dash and a small burn on my console lid. Any one have experience using the vinyl repair kits? I'm not too concerned with color matching, since I plan on dying them both black after I repair them, I just want the tear and burn hole to be gone ..
Would the repair patch be dyeable? That's my biggest concern......
My father and I used a vinyl repair kit years ago.. it was the gel stuff in little bottles that you spread on, then lay the paper embedded with grain on top of it, then iron it.
From what I remember, it worked fine, but we didn't have the car much longer after that. So as far as being long lasting, I can't say.
It did the job for a quick fix though.
If you're going for a show car, I'd reccommend totally replacing those pieces, or recovering them, instead of repairing.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
Well I don't plan on doing a show car, else I'd prolly do fiberglass interior. I don't see why the patch wouldn't be dyeable but I guess I'll have to test it out.. I've got some old vinyl seats lying around I could use..
