Carbon Fiber Interior
Tuesday, May 10, 2005 12:59 PM
I want to carbon fiber my interior, door panels, dash, etc. Like most people fiberglass. I have experience in fiberglassing, mostly from molding in my bodykit and helping others with hoods and such. So, I am fairly confident that I can fiberglass my interior with no major issues. I understand that carbon fibering the interior would just be fiberglassing it and then laying the carbon fiber as the top layer. My real question is, how do you get the clear topcoat on the CF to be smooth? I am guessing that it is a one shot type of deal, because I doubt you can sand it. Any info would be helpful.

sand it like u sand anything else. just make sure you have the right resin(clear drying resin) do it just like u would fiberglass, add a couple coats of rein on top, then sand it smooth and buff it.

ya just sand it down smooth with a higher grit, and work your way up to the tiny grits... just like glass
