i hate it how the hvac is above the cd player. i hate it so much cause i have a manual and everytime i sometimes hard shift and my hand slips off i punch my cd player. anyone else want to bitch about this.

switch them, put the CD player up top... not too hard.
well, every time you sometimes shift hard, be careful.... or switch them.
I just hate the fact I cant fit a drink in there because it just hits my cd player faceplate,but thats why theres a center console.
Like others have said,just swap them around or swap in an auto tranny
no switch to auto i love my manual to much. the thing about changing is it takes alot. i mean will my radio fit there. i have a pioneer haed unit installed and will the mounting kit fit just like where it was?
also if i could find a crashed 2000+ could i switch out the console area. cause the one cupholder thing is a bit annoying.

unbolt both and just swap. maybe you should learn to drive stick better and actually hold on to it. i never had problem once with hitting my cd player

I don't think you can just swap the HVAC to the bottom and vice versa there isn't enough room where the HVAC is now. I believe (not sure) that there is a metal piece you can cut for it to fit.

sounds like more than once to me.
1 install the stereo right , so that it sits flush (yes its possible)
2 get the b&m short shifter
3 just changing to the 00-05 console wont change the shifter location

true i had a hard time getting mine in. there wasnt enough room in the back with the harness. it took me about 10 mins to get it in flush
you know i hated my 99 console also, not because i couldn't shift but because of the single cupholder and the stupid ass ebrake area. @!#$ would always fall in through those bristles and be in there just out of reach. so i put in one from an 02 and now i have 2 relatively useless cupholders (which are smaller than the one from my 99 console) and a boot for my e-brake.
best advice from above is quit shifting so hard that you punch your radio, or quit watching TFATF before you go places.
