Ok I did do a search but it is getting late and I wasnt able to find anything that answers my ??'s. I am thinking of doing a swap. I currently have the stock 05 Cav dash in my car and I want to put the 03+ fire dash in. what all is involved in this?? I know I need to change the door panels. Do I have to chage the cluster or will my Cav cluster fit?? If I chage the cluster what happens with my odometer?? Is the mileage stored in the cluster or is it stored in the computer?? Is it just the outside pieces of the dash that need to be changed or do i need to swap all the internals like the ducting, supports, pretty much anything that the outside pieces cover?? I just got an 05 fire for a rental for work today and I really like the way that dash looks compared to the 05 cav. Plus I have a red car and would like all my lights to be red and figured this would be easier than trying to solder LED's into everything. I know there are a few of you out there that have done this so please help. Also can you give me an idea of what the cost would be to do this swap??
Thanks
the clusters are the same and the mileage is stored in the computer i have an 03 cav with an 03 sunfire cluster so i know that for sure as for the dash i would think you would need everything but the framing unless the vents are in the same spots, i just pulled my whole dash to paint and it was no big deal
Yeah Ive pulled the majority of my dash off several times, and same with the doors. Im not worried about the work part of it I just want to make sure when I go to the yard that I get everything at one time so I dont end up with a half done project.
actually you need the metal frame too
you need the door panels
metal frame
dash structure
A/C tubing
Dash pad
any small items like glove box lid and steering column cover and fuse cover, hvac/radio bezel etc
yup pretty much what he said.
Not hard at all, just make sure yo get everything from the donor car, and the HVAC control head is a direct swap for your stocker.
