i think im know the answer to this and will probably feel stupid after its answered, but ill ask ne ways. the piece that runs between the dash and ur windshield in the sunfires, can it be taken out without removin the dash. If so how?

Mine do, there's a bolt under the vent trap, the rest is just some clips, remove the vent trap, unscrew the bolt and you just have to pull it and they will unclip.
if it's the same thing, it's a 7mm bolt that holt it in the middle
is it the same for the older ones, ive got a 95. i wanna say that it is but i dunno.

I believe it's only like that for the sunfires... otherwise every Cav owner would have replaced theirs by now with a jy one
yea mine has that infamous crack in the middle and i can't get it out with out takin the whole sh&% out. o well...
Just be careful when removing it! The metal clips will chew up the vinyl on your dash rather easily!!!
