broken speedometer?
Monday, December 26, 2005 9:18 PM
the other day i was driving the highway and stopped to pay a toll. accelerated from toll and notice my gauge jumped and it was reading 85mph and i was in second gear driving normally. i was behind a my cousin crusin at 45-50 and my gauge was reading 105-107. has this ever happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to fix it.

the car is a 04 cavi, with 24000 miles, would this still be covered under warrenty?

thanks
CHRIS

should be under warranty...

isnt it til like 36k?

my gas gaude did that recently

what i did was killed the car left it off for 5+ min and it was fine

another thing you can do is reset teh cluster...ive done it before and it fixed it too..

Don't even mess with it. Take it to the dealer. Let them mess with it.

It's most likely the cluster. There is a slight possibility that it is a wheel speed sensor, but like I said, SLIGHT as in 5% at the most.

i just cant stand some dealerships b/c they always try to give you shyte..

specially me..if they see my cluster with all my LEDs they'd blame it on that

Ozzie, when you need to go to the dealer, go over to Tom Benson Chevrolet and tell them Mike from Fidelity Warranty sent you. They won't bs you any more.

I am surprised they didn't void the warrenty... My friend put in new speakers into his optra and they voided all the warrenty on his electronics in his car..

That's illegal. They can't do that. To void the warranty they have to prove without a doubt that the speaker caused any failure to anything that went bad. I should know, I have to deal with it everyday at my job.
