ok guys, after researching, looking for a harness bar, ive found we basically have no options.
ive tried contacting the guy from hardbar.net with no luck. also, Sparco said they dont make one for our cars,.................so..............................i need your guys help
im going to either try and find a company to produce them, or im going to try and produce them.
so i need someone to measure from the seatbelt bolt on the driver b-pillar to the seatbelt bolt on the passenger b-pillar. i cant get to my cav at the moment otherwise i would measure myself, lol.
if anyone can grab that measurement(as precise as possible) it would be GREATLY appreciated
also- does anyone have any interest in these? would I be wasting my time trying to get them produced? from all the posts i read about them, it seemed quite a few people would like them.
thanks
im interested..sorry i cant give you good measurements though
...but if i can bolt my harness to it..and its safe..im very interested..keep us updated
this will be a direct bolt on, with all the necessary safety components, but it will most likely not be DOT approved, etc
^^^you are the man, i appreciate it, and ill keep this post updated with what i come up with
Just verifying shifted's measurements. Yea, somewhere between 43-44" depending on how you measure.

I tried a few years ago with a company in Seattle to get this produced but couldn't get anyone in that area to drive up for the day to have it fitted!!
I'll see if I can run down the info again on my computer and post up what I had. They wanted $320 per bar if I remember right...
I'll see what I can find...oh yeah, I'd be interested as well!
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
i know these would sell pretty good. im quite surprised no one makes em. im also looking into ones built for other cars that may fit ours. but im open for anything, as long as i can get one
Actually found it in the archieves
Here is the post I made as well as the website. I was off on the price a bit (about $180) but who knows....we get enough insterest and such maybe the price can come down a bit you know??

Hope this helps out and maybe we can get it done!! I know I don't have my seats in just because I think it looks ... odd to have regular belts with racing seats!

Zach - they would bolt to your stock bolts that hold on your stock belts on the b-pillar, and would also allow you to still utilize the stock belts
BlueDeuce - thanks for that link. ill check that out
im actually currently talking with someone who produces them for cobalts, and they could make them for us, im just waiting on a price est.
ill keep you posted
Damn...check out my reference to the number of members in that post!!!! 17,000!!
There's like 31,000 plus here now!!
The one I was looking at being made would replace your original belts and mount on the b pillar and then connect to the bottom bolt as well, then run along the back seats. It's really a nice set up!!

So this harness bar would run across the back of the car between the two pillers and bolt to the interior?
Then you buy harnesse's and you would attach them to the bar and put them through your racing seats; that would be sweet.
I am interested as well.
If you dont have a roll bar or this harness bar, can you still use a harness in your j-body; and one here useing one without a roll bar; if so where does the harness attach too?
How much do harnesse's cost each?
98 j-body sedan
Interested I am. Bar for harness I need. Hrrrmmmm
terry, you can use harness without the cage or bar, but it is very unsafe in the event of an accident, especially a roll over. harness' go from $50 to anywhere near $300 depending on brand. but if your life is worth anything to you, the bar and decent harness' are worth the extra you pay.
to everyone else, heres what i got:
i have a company that will produce them for us, but it works like this:
normally they would charge $270 plus shipping to make the one off bar.
if we can get 6-9 people, they will do them for $219.99 with $39 shipping. so we are saving $50 per bar. if we can get 10 or more people, we can get a little more off the price.
THE CATCH - all bars would need to be paid for before they do the group deal. so if we had 6 people who had cash, and paid, we'd get them for $219, otherwise, to get them one at a time, its $270 plus $39 shipping. so this is a great deal, especially for a custom piece. but i know how JBO is, so i can almost guarantee we cant get 10 people to pay up front.
so basically, its on you guys. show some support if you want one. if your not interested in one, DONT POST HERE
^^^thats no problem. at this point i just wanna see interest. im even thinking about sporting the cash to buy a few extra just to get it off the ground, then ill just re-sell them at a little higher price after the fact.
Didnt mike ferrari have a blue one?
that was an ebay floor "brace". basically worthless
I'm interested, but Im broke as hell right now......
id be intersted in well but prob wouldnt be for another couple months. I need to get the racing seats first and harnesses. but one reason y i dint get seats yet is no where to realy mount the harnesses safely. Keep us posted.
Make it for us sedans and i would be in too joe.
Joe... I would be interested in re-selling these, so if you'd like send me the contact info for the company that would be producing them. That way I can possibly pre-order some to help get it off the ground.
Or another option... I have a local shop that does some metal work/welding (in the same building)... and he could potentially do them for us, and I would bet it'd be less.

Not to be annoying but did any engineering go into this? What type of forces can this bar withstand and in what direction because they look very dangerous to me to have a harness attached to. Im picturing them bending a lot in a head on collision or killing the backseat passengers if their head came in contact with the bar. At least shattering their arms in any accident. I wouldnt reccomend any backseat passengers with this bar. It might make sense to run a couple support bars to the rear upper seat belt mounts or to the rear strut mounts for added strength.
What diameter and wall thickness tubing and of what material will be used? I am not trying to flame you, I just want to make sure you think about the liabilities that go along with this sort of thing. You will need some serious disclaimers if there wasnt sufficient structural analysis done on this bar by someone that knows what they are doing.
