waz up guys? well, I need your help with something. I'm new to leds. I recently bought 3 leds at outozone for $10. then i found out that lsdiodes.com has them way cheaper than that. I know how to solder and all that stuff but I don't really know what resistor or led to use. so, i went on lsdiodes.com and came up with this. Can anyone tell me if this seems to be correct. Any imput would be greatly apreciated. Thanks. Oh BTW this is a project for a friend on his blazer.!!

1st load your pix to a place like
www.photobucket.com
then read up in the Interior forum about LED info, anything by Buzz122 is great info
Kardain as well...also what "project" are you planning on doing?
Yea, photobucket or imageshack for the picture, then we can try to help
Step 1)
Clicky
Step 2) Use 13.8 as the source voltage and enter the remaining values off the data sheet for your LED's
Step 3) This page will calculate the resistor that you need to use... However, this page has a flaw (that I have submitted to the webmaster...) in which the resistor needs to go before the LED's in the circuit, not after.
Let me know if you have any other questions
The ones you bought at the store, are great, for a quick and easy lighting project, and they are not THAT much more for each one. Not only do they have the resistors, and wires to them, but they are also very versatile....
you may end up spending $1-2 per led, and then another $1 for resistors, and then get them all shipped to your house, and then for you to solder them, and wire them in, for a small project, i'm more willing to go and spend the 3.33 per led, and call it done. Now, if you could fill us in, on what kind of project youre doing, then anyone of us could help you in figureing which way would be the best to go about it.
Kardain < -------- you know, i was looking at that site one day, and once i saw that, i went somehwere else, becausse if they didn't know the correct placement of the resistor, then who says they would be correct in the calcs...
Thank you Kardain, and Ozzie

can you email the actual full size picture, i think the only thing i got out of that was that youre using green led's and maybe a 332 ohm resistor. everything is way too blury to see anything, even when i saved the pic

This is not a big project jst a small one. He liked the way the leds look so he ask me if I could do the same on his and I said sure. The other night we went to autoZ to buy the leds but they don't carry green leds which is wht he wants. I went to radioshack but, the guy couldn't exaclty help me choose the right combination of leds and resistor, so I decided to go to lsdiodes.com and see what they offer. I'm probaly going to b using about 20 leds for this. so if i do the math 20leds X $3.33each = $66 at AutoZ. I did the math for lsdiodes.com and came up with $15 total for all the accesories!!

for the 2 led's, i would use a 360-390 Ohm ¼ watt resistor and for the single led, try a 510-560 Ohm ¼ watt resistor....... using between 13.5-14 V as the source, just to be sure your alt. doesn't overload the led..
whats the mcd on those ?........

Thanks buzz122! I dind't take into consideration the alt. btw the mcd on these leds is 5600 typical. I see u have blue leds in your cavy. What leds and what resistors are u using? I'd like to buy blue ones to finish my car!!

I have blue lights (LED and cathodes) in my car also, I got everything from www.oznium.com (they can include resistors for a like nickel each, no math required from you!), except for my HVAC and cluster LEDs, which came from www.superbrightleds.com
yeah, i would go with the 390, and the 560 because of the really high mcd......
depends, on where you are talking about, i have different led's

Buzz... I know what you mean, but if you run the info with
Metku Mods, it should come up with the same value for resistors... I personally use both, but prefer the errored one when having to string a large amount of LED's as it will isolate each series/parallel.
theres an LED calculator that i have that i use, it looks like it's DOS based, and works really good, i'm not sure where i got it from, if you want i can try and see if i can email it to you.
It will calculate series, parallel, or individual ones........

I'm down for that, always nice to reference from various calcs just to maintain accuracy on wiring.

buzz, doesn't look like it went through. If it was an exe attached, Google may have blocked the e-mail before it was delivered. Don't know.... Its all good though.
i can zip it up, and then change it.......
